Hey, I was thinking about the whole 'why is there evil in the world' (Deep I know...) question, and I thought, well if there was no evil, how would you know what was good? It's like, if everyday was a sunny brilliant day, how would you know that? What would you compare it to? If you'd never had a 'bad' day, you wouldn't know it was a good day, so you wouldn't appreciate it as much...I guess it's the same with Good and evil, if there wasn't anything evil in the world, how would you know what was good or bad...if that makes any sense

I don't know, just a thought I guess....

We do not need that Charlatan from Nazareth and the peadophile from Mecca to be taught ethics. Ancient philosophers taught us ethics and you know what....they existed! They were real. Dunno if Jesus or Mo existed but ancient civilisations taught us ethics and morality long before those two folks that we do not know if they existed or not. All i know is that Socrates, Plato, Aristotetle and many others existed and taught us what is "eudaimon" and what is not. Jesus was just a myth and Mo taught muslims how to kill others and having sex with 12 years old boyz.

I wonder how many of our T/C brothers and sisters would have you as a neighbour to trust. I'm a Greek Cypriot and I would most certainly would not trust you for as long as I could throw you. You will get no insults from me boy , I shall wait till I grow up.

Natty , you may as well ask what if there were no diseases , how would we know we were healthy.
We , most of us that is , have a brain that has functioning cells that are specific for a variety of functions . Our cells would instinctively know and pass on the message of what appears as evil and what is good.
European666 , mentioned the influence of philosophers on our way of life , and I agree , but would also add that although I do not subscribe to the creator religious theory , I do believe that Jesus was a philosopher in his own right.

Probably Jesus' words and theories, if he ever lived, were distorded from the fanatical jewish that used Jesus' theories to make war against the greek and roman civilisation by 50 a.d. If u go to rassias' link that i gave ya in a previous threat you ll notice the menace of Christians against the Greek gentiles.

Rassias himself and many others are saying that "the greek civilisation is under occupation since 300 a.d.".

Like Miltiades, I'm also a non believer, but I try to stay out of these sorts of discussions, because it is very easy to get people pissed off, who are believers. But when you talk about religion and Jesus so passionately, it is very difficult not to respond to you. So if you believe that Jesus was son of God, born to Virgin Mary, who was married to Joseph at the time. How could Mary be "Virgin" when she was married to Joseph.?? How can you take away Josephs fatherhood away from Jesus, and give it to God. I believe Jesus existed as a man, and only as a man, and got crucified as a man, in the hands of men, that did not like what he was preaching. How can you accept anything more than that, otherwise, when your daughter comes home one day, and tells you that she is pregnant, but she will tell you, it was a "miraculous conception" and not by a man, then you'll have no choice but to accept her story.

All of us are a by-product of mans' insatiable appetite for Sex. The last thing on my mind , the evening , or morning or afternoon , when my wife conceived , was having a baby. I was having a good time and so was she , I hope , and I was married so she conceived .I did not specifically arouse my self so that my wife would conceive.
This I believe is what my friend European 666 calls "miraculous conception "

Kikapu, i heard this in a documentary. It happens once in every 4-5 mil. births. It is an anomaly of the female organism. I am not a doc but i have seen it on the tv. read this
