Testing a Spell Checker

Postby Admin » Fri Aug 18, 2006 4:23 am

Hello,

If you are using the default forum style and you have replied to a message (not by using the quick reply) then you have probably noticed the new spell checker. (javascript should be turned on)

You can type your message (in English) and then click "Check spelling" and the spell checker will give you suggestions for correcting your mistakes (if any).

Currently we are just testing this spell checker.

If you would like to help please answer the following questions.

a) Do you use the spell checker? If yes, how useful do you find it?

b) Have you noticed any additional delay in the loading of the page that contains the spell checker?

c) Were there any cases that the spell checker did not work (e.g. you got a message about not being able to connect to the server)

d) Have you received any javascript or other errors on the page that contains the spell checker? If yes please post your Operating System and Browser.

Thanks

a) Do you use the spell checker? Normally use quick reply, but done a couple normal replies to test this.
If yes, how useful do you find it? Its very useful.

b) Have you noticed any additional delay in the loading of the page that contains the spell checker? None at all

c) Were there any cases that the spell checker did not work (e.g. you got a message about not being able to connect to the server) Seems fine to me so far. Might try and confuse it in a second with English and American spelling.

d) Have you received any javascript or other errors on the page that contains the spell checker? If yes please post your Operating System and Browser. None yet. Just for the record, IE and XP.

Colour and Color - which will be correct with the spell checker?

Spoke to soon. Just got a pop-up saying "An error occurred on the server. Please try again later"

Tried again and its fine. Spelt correct incorrectly. Forgot the e! Just for the record, it didn't try and change color and colour!

Have just used the spell checker again and I don't think its working properly.
If you look at my post in this thread you can see a couple of mistakes after using the spell checker.
