I have not read it, but my friend has and she says it is the most wonderful book she has ever read. The bit about buying the house is hilarious.

I've read it a couple of times and have an opinion on Durrell's writing style and his observations.

Best bits!
House buying (same as Snad's friend)
Water rites and ownership
'Loss' of Durrell's brother in WW2 Greece
Students demonstrations/examinations

Hope you receive the book soon, read and then give your thoughts.
