Most beautiful part of the island. I have a house in one of the highest mountain villages (Lemythou).
You could easily get to there in a hour and a half from Larnaca but why rush? Take your time and visit some of the smaller villages on your way up for some true Cyprus hospitality.
There are lots of routes you can walk when you're up there most of them are mapped in the Troodos square.
Skiing usually is from end Jan - beginning April though I do remember once skiing on Mayday(1978)
The ski runs are comparable with those of Aviemore but with obviously better weather.
A note of advice please check out road conditions in winter, roads above Platres are often only acsessable with 4 wheel drive or snow chains.

That has to be one if the weirdest feelings, driving up to the mountains to go skiing, getting snow all over you and getting a little cold, only for a couple of hours later, you could be laying on the beach sunbathing!
