(I'm a bit of a history nut, and an old building just being left to fall, is one of those things that kinda upsets me....kinda lame I know :))

I feel the same - architecture is changing drastically and if we dont preserve some of the older beautiful buildings then we lose quite a bit of history.......I cant wait to take some pics of old buildings - the old cypriot doors are gorgeous!!!
do t hey not have some historical trust over there???

id say its still busy in SEptember

when I lived there i really loved the cooler months - the locals still hang out
and we'd play backgammon and drink hot chocolate at the cafes most nights....the little taverns were great in Winter too
my parents used to visit me most Winters and they'd even come clubbing with us - so much fun!!

is the Black Turtle still around?

I don't know anastasia, I know they have plans in Lefkosia and Limassol, to renovate old buildings, but I checked out the Larnaca municipality page to see if they had any such plans, but it didn't seem so....I really, really hope they do sort those buildings out over time, because as you say, if we just left them, we would lose a part of the Cypriot culture and history, which of course includes those gorgeous old doors! ;)
