No offence but I find Limassol a little dirty. Its full of money launderers, retired conmen, posers, hookers, dealers, pimps etc. I accept that goes on but if I wanted that atmosphere I'd stay in London. Limassol is like Ayia Napa for the natives. Last time I was there was 4 months ago and I couldn't believe how much Russian was being spoken throughout the town.

Hazza, you are absolutely right. Hobos is a great place for waffles with ice cream & chocolate syrup - you just can't beat it. :D

All the towns are beautiful in their own right. But I've always loved Larnaca a little more as visits to family have made me very familiar with it over the years.

I loved going to Hobos.....is it still around? awesome!

Larnaca seems more traditional too - not just a concrete jungle
Limmassol does appear dirter (good point GG) and congested - lots of mafia types.......LOL

Pafos is beautiful too but the beach sux.......

I have to say, I'm a Larnaca Girl! The village I stay in is about 2 mins from the town, and since I was a little girl I've been goin to the finigoudes with my Family, to Hobos of course!! :)

There are some great bars, and, when you know where to look, some great clubs as well!! Plus the shopping isn't too bad! And the finigoudes Are also really nice in the day as well as at night.

I'm not too sure about the other towns, only visted once or twice, although when I went to Limassol last year everything seemed to be bigger compared to Larnaca, bigger star bucks, bigger shops....although I prefer the 'smallness' of things in Larnaca....However all the Towns are Great...:)

Limassol does have a 'mafia' rep though, for some reason...... It seems it's the 'gangter' town of Cyprus  :D

I much preferred finigoudes when it was a 2 way street and long before the refurbishment. Its lost lots of its character.

The other main thing I am upset about in Larnaca is the clubs, dekelia road and finigoudes used to be full of great bars and clubs about a decade ago. Now there seems to be so few. Even in the peak of Summer its comparatively quiet.

Larnaca gets my vote as well. Altho I live in Nicosia I always spend my holidays in Larnaca. If I had the money I would buy an apartment there for weekends and summer. In one way it's a shame the Brit tour operators don't put Larnaca on their brochures but in another way it leaves it relatively unspoilt and quiet for those who appreciate it.

What is Larnaca like in September? When does it begin to die down? Going to a wedding there and plan an extended stay.

I agree. I'm glad Larnaca doesn't attract too many tourists as I think it's perfect the way it is. Also the people are just so super friendly. I have a place in Droshia and each time I go back I find a different part of Larnaca to walk around and explore. I have walked on the path that follows the Salt Lake from Kamares acqueduct to Sultan Tekke mosque but I was told there was also another path that goes from the mosque to Kamares (more inland) and is part of European walkway E4. I've looked around the area but can't find the route. I would be grateful if anyone can give clear directions to how I can find the start of this route near the mosque and where exactly in Kamares it finishes. I tried enquiring at the CTO but they just gave me a book of walking trails in Cyprus and the E4 route was very unclear.
Thanks
Jane

When you walk around the shopping area there are some really great old buildings. although quite a few look run down, I really wish they would repair them, because one of these days they are just going to crumble, which a big shame!! (I'm a bit of a history nut, and an old building just being left to fall, is one of those things that kinda upsets me....kinda lame I know :))
