Tailed Poem

Postby MehmedII » Sun Aug 13, 2006 7:04 pm

I luv this poem.

Tailed Poem

(butcher:USA, The cat of a butcher:Cyprus, The alley cat:Turkey)

We can’t be together, Our ways are distinct.
You’re the cat of a butcher, but I’m an alley cat.
Your food is served with a tinned plate,
I take mine from the lion’s mouth.
You dream of love; I dream of bone.

But your way isn’t easy either, pal!
It’s not so easy
To wag a tail and fawn over the man!

Orhan Veli Kanık
Translated by elt

---------------------------------------
Kuyruklu Şiir

Uyuşamayız sevgilim, yollarımız ayrı;
Sen ciğercinin kedisi ben sokak kedisi.
Senin yiyeceğin kalaylı kapta
Benimki aslan ağzında.
Sen aşk rüyasi görürsün ben kemik.

Ama seninki de kolay degil, kardeşim;
Kolay değil hani,
Böyle kuyruk sallamak Tanrının günü.

Never read such garbage in my life.Another newcomer another fanatic another misguided soul searching for laughs at the expense of others, I wonder if he is a Cypriot or a poor peasant from Anatolia .Your guess is as good as mine.

Hey, I think this poem is quite nice, It's written by Mehmet Yassin and it's called,

The Myth of our own Cat

When I was a small child I wondered
if she was Greek,
the cat of our neighbour,
One day I asked my mother
if cats are Turkish
and dogs Greek.
Their dogs snarled at our Kittens,
Days later
I saw
Our cat
eat the very Kittens that she'd given birth to.

Peace! :)

The butcher cat of the butcher is Turkey ;) Without USA what would Turkey be?
