No, Kikapu, I am not a feminist. I just do not believe in or agree with your view that men have this inherent need to just spread their seed. It is the "it's in our nature" argument that I hate. I think men sleep around for different reasons. I think most Cypriot men do it to prove their manliness and to satisfy some idea they have of power. Thinking that they will do what they damn well please because they are the man and no woman will tell them what they cannot do. But sleeping around brings heartache, risks of disease, and destroys trust. It shows a complete lack of concern and respect for the spouse.
As far as human males go, the attitude that it is not your concern with what happens to your genes once you spread them is shocking and it is not taking responsibility. If you get a woman pregnant you are partly responsible. If you get a disease you have a responsibility for that as well.
Most men would not tolerate infidelity in women. Why should women tolerate it?
Tara T,
Now you're arguing with me on a intellectual level about the behaviour of a man in this modern society, and everything you have said, I agree with you. I'm not talking about a mans' sexuality and responsibility in this modern world, I'm talking about the "Male Sexual Blue Print" in the animal Kingdom, which we belong to. The rest of the animal kingdom has more or less remained as they have for ever. We humans have changed in a big way, from where we were, unless you believe in "Adam & Eve" fairly tale story, but our sexuality have not changed at all, as far as passing on our GENES. Modern man, as smart as he is, still wants more than one partner (regardless whether he acts on it or not), knowing all the dangers, but still does it, and so do women. If nature did not intend for Human male to spread his Genes as often as possible, his body would not produce them in large quantities, instead, it would have been once a month, or even one week a year during "mating season".!! Please don't confuse actions of a man and the actions of the "Male Sexual Blue Print" which dictates his actions whether he likes it or not.
