Poor Linda Orams........some transcripts from the hearings

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby Viewpoint » Mon Aug 14, 2006 11:05 am

Do you really think the British will judge against a British couple and other British people? the whole issue if judged in GC favor will open a bigger can of worms than you really desire can you imagine the British Turkish Cypriots they all have disputed property and property in the UK. You go for it and do your worse but please be prepared for the consequences which sometimes far out weigh the benefits, Enosis being the bast example that comes to mind. You make you bed you have to lay in it, dont cry wolf when everyhting goes pear shape and it explodes in your faces. The whole issue should be put in the fridge until a time we find a solution, one off cases will not resolve the overall problem it will only aggrivate and divide an already very weak intercommunal bond. You are burning many bridges and even those TCs which were devout supporters of reunificaiton are starting to question your motives for such divisive actions. You are jeopordising the overall solution for winning just a few legal battles you will inevitablly erode and lose the TCs forever.....

Whilst some of what you say may be true VP don't forget that it is not the ROC in court but an individual against Orams. It will be interesting to see if the premium for this insurance goes up as a result of this report. What will be the consequence of Orams losing? I predict an immediate closing of the green line to stop more writs being served, however, I think it is more likely that the verdict will be inconclusive.

I have to agree about the verdict as anything different will open up the flood gates for people who have been waiting long enough for a remedy to their property problems. The overall matter can not be solved by individuals suing other individuals, whats needed is an over all solution one way or another. These inviduals would have done themselves and the "Roc" a favor if they put as much energy into getting their politicians to genuinely seeking a solution.

Viewpoint, you're not getting it. if it rules in favor of the greek cypriot, the amount of exploited greek cypriot land will be cut to a minimum, if not its going to be the opposite, with an even bigger can of worms opening up when we find a solution to this ordeal.
What do you want? a small can of worms now, or a tanker of worms later?

Theres no guarantee there, dont forget there are many British expats who dont have property in the Uk and let me tell you there are many investors here from countries outside of the EU. It may scare off a few buyers but in the long run have you not driven the stake even deeper between our communites? which makes finding a solution even harder than it already is?

No VP you have driven the stake in further by flogging off our land in the first place. As soon as the Annan plan announced that those that had improved land would be able to keep it if the plan was accepted you developed more stolen land. The thieving buggars who lived in my fathers house ("sold" last year for £150,000) built a swimming pool so that it would count as an improvement within 6 months of the plan being announced.

well the expats that dont have property in the UK are either stupid or stupid, they deserve what they got themselves into.

bottom line is: the land doesnt belong to them, so they should buy it from its rightful owner. is it that hard for you to understand?

and please dont try to pass off the north as a decent place to live. i've been there and i've seen what a dump it has become

On the contray it will put an end on the illegal sale of GC properties, it will clear out any of your hopes to live an easy life for eternity by selling stolen property of others, and will convince you to sit down and negotiate like good boys.

Risk Takers

Postby chedda » Mon Aug 14, 2006 10:56 pm

I believe no one settling in the North was naive enough to believe there was not a certain risk involved. They made a concious decision to take the cheaper option and so they must incur the risk. However unfortunate the outcome maybe how you could you buy something knowing the true owner was not privvy to the agreement ? Anyway let me introduce myself as chedda a new settler in Limassol. By the way i do not have a house in the UK and i am not stupid or stupid !!

Inconclusive could mean many things like an immediate appeal to a higher UK court or a "win" for the plaintiff who finds that the costs of the case are more than the compensation or a judgement that the court decides may not apply to other cases.
