Turkish Cypriots are no more than a minority

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby Piratis » Mon Aug 14, 2006 9:34 am

The Puppet State of Turkey in Cyprus is an illegal entity which was created against the will of the native Cypriot people. It was created by a foreign (Turkish) invasion that violates the sovereignty of Republic of Cyprus and EU. The Puppet State of Turkey in Cyprus is recognized by none except from their puppeteers, thats why it is called a Puppet pseudo state. Such pseudo Puppet state can not take any mesures, decisions or anything else. Turkey finances their pseudo Puppet state so they will all dance on the tune of Turkey and play the "ministers" the "presidents" etc. What these puppets do is just part of a Turkish horror/comedy muppet show, and carries no legal or other significance.

Marz , this guy is a Bulgarian Turk , nothing what so ever to do with Turkish Cypriots , he / she has by all accounts never set foot on Cyprus soil. There are many Turkish Bulgarians in Bulgaria , the descendants of the Ottoman Empire Turks .
He religiously refers to the occupied part of Cyprus as a legal state , he/ she is too bloody stubborn to see that the International community , as well as Europe of course do not recognise the "TRNC" He even suggested I should go there and live under the occupied regime , what passport will I have Bulgarian Turk ?
What nation do I support in the Olympics , European cup , I know , I hear you say Turkey !!

The Bulgarian Turks are to the natives of Bulgaria a pain in the ass , dont be a pain in our ass.

'In fact I firmly stand by your right to demand and be granted repatriation, repropriation and reparation by the organs and courts of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, and I uneqivocally condemn any past and present violations by the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus against displaced Greek Cypriots. As I said before it is high time that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus took corrective measures towards all that were negatively affected during its creation.'

bg_turk,

I am sure we have gone over this ground before. The TRNC cannot do what you say, nor does she want to. If you want, write to Mr Talat and he will tell you. If I recall correctly, and please correct me if I am wrong, the solution you envisage is the repatriation of all GC refugees (or IDP whichever you would like to call them although it make little difference to their lives what they are called), except a chosen number who will somehow agree to exchange their properties for those of the TC refugees (or IDPs) displaced from the south.
Two issues:

1) Who will agree to that exchange? The RoC won't since it does not recognise the TRNC as sovereign and has always been against partition (at least technically).

2) How will the TRNC now be politically made up? TC community is now no longer a minority but it is only a 55%-45% majority, hardly one that can dominate the other and in addition, as we calculated in a thread before, the 45% GC minority will own 55% of the land.

Do you honestly think the TC community will agree to asolution of this nature? Do you honestly think the GC community will agree to solution of this nature?

Imho opinion if the TRNC were to stay in place many GCs would opt for a financial settlement rather than return to property located in the north and live under TRNC duristiction. This would in turn increase the TC land ownership level to higher than now discussed of 18% add to this the return of a certain % of GCs I feel we would be a recognized state of around 25%-29% of the island. This would give the "RoC" 12%-8% of land return and allow the Gcs to continue with the "RoC" as a purely GC country and in its current form with no TC intervention and fears that we would hinder the functioning of a united Cyprus. It would all us our own recognized state the TRNC.

Sounds good to me what do you guys think?? Shall we sign tomorrow?

vp,

Whilst your 'solution' is far more realistic or likely than bg_turks, I would never sign my name to it since it partitions my island and I do not want that, end of story. As for living under TRNC juristriction, this would be ok for me personally, if the 'TRNC' was not the TRNC at all but a federal state within a unified Cyprus. My ideal is unified Cyprus and this is why, in my opinion the Annan Plan with all its faults is better than your suggestion. I realise not all GCs would agree with me but most of them would require your state to be only 20% of the land and perhaps even only 20% of the coastline, something I do not think the TC community would agree to. So where do we go from here other than try to unify the island?

Alexis how long will it take for people to realize that we are incapable of unity in the fashion you dream of one nation one people GC majority rule and TC minority rights 10 50 100 years??? what do you think?

Its just not gonna happen because we do not want it enough, theres one side that has gained self determination and no GC intereference and the other side which has created a purely GC recognized state. Do you really think either side want to give these up and share, we are kidding ourselves if we believe this. If the desire was there is would have materialized long ago.

Partition happened in 1974 like it or not we have been seperated for 32 years and the fact that we are unrecognized doesnt change things to such a degree that will make TCs beg to be taken back to the more prosperous "RoC" .

Any alternative to the TRNC has to be better than the TRNC we have today and the GCs have to realize that unless somethign better is put before us we will continue as we are for as long as it takes.

So VP you would prefer to become part of Turkey and lose your Cypriot identity than be a minority in an EU Cypriot State. Partition would almost certainly mean that neither Turkey or TRNC ever join the EU

This issue is more than 10 years old. Do you suspect any reason why they have not applied yet? I do:They will lose! Those people are simply muslims they are not Turks.

wrote: YOu are missing the point entierely. The point was not to compare, the point was to illustrate why EU membership cannot guarantee minority and communal rights that would be necessary for Turkish Cypriots in any future settlement.

You are contradicting yourself. The mere fact that those people can apply to the ECHR is the ultimate guarantee. What do you expect, the EU to provide solutions to ALL possible minority problems before they even occur? Man not even a municipality can do that.

wrote: I choose both. The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus has already taken steps towards reinstating unfairly displaced Greek Cypriot civilians as indicated by a recent court decision of the Property Commission in the North. I am hopeful that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus will do everything in its power to provide remedies for people negatively affected by its creation.

You are totally out of space and time.
Even Talat said not more than 3% of the GC properties can be considered. They themselves admitted they have no money to pay. They themselves admitted there is no mechanism for anyone to receive even the money that court might decide. Everybody knows that committee just tries to arrange 2-3 cases to present itself as alternative to the EU court. Talat himself admitted that committee is not a proper court for restitution and will be rejected by EU.

Enough time wasted with you.
Concentrate on the problems you have in Bulgaria and leave us alone.

I wonder what the moderators and Admins are doing here. This guy even has the illegal pseudo flag in his signature and nobody cares to remove it…
