Turkish Cypriots are no more than a minority

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby Natty » Wed Aug 16, 2006 10:31 pm

I agree Miltiades, we have to have a solution that is completely fair to everyone (something we have never had!!) About this enosis idea, my whole life, I have never heard anywhere and from anybody (and I was born after 1974) that the GC's aim is still for 'enosis', although I can completely understand why people wanted it all those years back. However times have changed, of course GC's still have a 'connection with Greece, well with all Greeks (They also have an equally strong connection to their fellow Cypriots, whether they be TC, Maronite, Armenian..in fact probably more of a connection!!), however they are very protective of their own independant country, Cyprus. Cyprus can do perfectly well on it's own, the fact that the republic is doing quite well now proves that, however it could do sooo... much better if it was unified, with everyone living together!!! I truly believe that!!

Peace! :)

I repeat what I said earlier. If enosis was a viable and a feasible option, the vast majority of Greek Cypriots would opt for it. Let us not fool ourselves.

Bananiot , I think that if it was viable , the Greeks of Greece would be demonstrating in their 1000s to unite with us , not the other way around. I'm sure that you Of all people must know that the Greek rich are the scum of the earth , I would not give them the time of the day. I consider the Greek elite to be the most corrupt , selfish , self opinionated scum in the whole of Europe, to be part of that makes me sick.
The Greece of today is not the Greece of Pythagoras , Socrates and Plato, it is the Greece of the corrupt the degenerate the utterly superfluous and unsophisticated , self centred and unconcerned about their own people let alone the "donkeys of Cyprus "
In short they have nothing to offer us apart from the F..ng flag.

LONG LIVE CYPRUS .

If agreed partition on 18% basis has zero chances then this has less than zero chances.

Hey Bananiot, since enosis isn't viable and feasible today we can't opt for it now can we? A pro-partition person only pushes meaningless arguments that aren't even part of the agenda. Its like your wife accusing you of wanting to have sex with your first girlfriend at 17, everytime your ready to have sex with her. When is it going to end?

Miltiades, do not let your own sentiments cloud your judgement.

You will probably agree with this. I am reading a book these days called "modern day (farcical) history of Greece" by Vasilis Rafaelides. He reckons that the inhabitants of Greece are barbarians, that learned Greek.

Enosis, growuptcs was never feasible, yet we pursued it. What makes you so sure that the aspiration is dead. I put it to you, its only latent. My wife analogy sucks. Can you come up with a better one? And by the way, who is pro partition?

Bananiot I assume that you are pro-partition if you refer to the people that would opt for enosis. Should i assume otherwise?

Bananiot,
Do you really think Enosis is only a latent feeling amongst GC's. Surely after so long being the master of their own fate they would not surrender their freedom to Greece to become just anothetr Greek Island. I find that difficult to believe-they would not be that stupid surely. Whereas we TC's are being forced into becoming a Turkish province through the lack of a solution and not through choice. As much as I would like to see a solution and re-unification I just dont see how we are going to get there.
