Turkish Cypriots are no more than a minority

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby miltiades » Sat Aug 12, 2006 8:26 am

Kifeas , I think Apollonios is making an issue out of realities existing on our island. If we continue down the road of Nationalism unrelated to the Cypriot identity , and if the T/Cs also continue down this road , then the end is predictable , the present stalemate will revert to a permanent partition with Greeks on one side and Turks on the other. Not Cypriots , but Greeks and Turks. All of us know the demographics of our island. No solution based on mere demographics will ever come to fruition. We should address the "trust" issue as a matter of urgency , the opening up of the borders is a step forward , removal of passport control will encourage sceptics such as my self to visit the occupied part. Why on earth isn't there a politician in Cyprus with the vision required to begin the process of creating an all Cypriot party to embrace all Cypriots , a party that will concentrate on the Cyprus issue looked at by Cypriots not T/Cs or G/Cs. Such parties exist world wide , a perfect example is the UK. Why are the English not demanding , being the majority , that they control the majority government posts.
The decease of our nation is our perceived motherlands and for as long as the Cypriot identity is only promoted on IDs and Passports and not in the hearts of the people , division will carry on.
Our famous sportsman , Markos , would have made a huge contribution to our nations efforts for a solution to our problem if only he promoted the Cypriot identity as against his statement of us being the same as the Hellenes.

Finally let me put this question to you . Supposing you were a politician trying to unite Cyprus. How many of our T/Cs compatriots do you think would cast their vote for your party.
I think a great deal would vote for my party if it included a number of T/Cs , do you not agree.

That's an idea with vision, miltiades, a united cypriot party with members from all the communities on the island.

It would be very difficult to put into operation, but in theory, it's a good direction for the country to go in. I'm so tired of the divisive thinking we see every day.

Hopefully the basic principles of the EU will start filtering through to the powers that be - you know, ending wars through economic and social cooperation.

Turkish Cypriots are not a minority, in fact they are the absolute majority in their own state, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

Apollonie, why are you posting all the above?

Because I’m discussed from the nationalistic trash and because I’m shamed when I see some stupid compatriots to try to find support for their out of space and time ideas to nationalistic trash like Karatziaferis. Is exactly the same thing when a TC do the same with the gray wolfs and I’ve just make a presentation of what this mindless nationalistic trash bring to us.

No one can take seriously this craps from Karatziaferis and even if he ever say something with sense because his ideological background is sick.

What relationship do they possibly have with what is presently at stake in Cyprus? Do you know what issue(s) is /are at stake now in Cyprus? Which are they?

They have absolute relationship because we are proved our self’s what we are to small to confront our mistakes and we try to find a mythological enemy to accuse about our mistakes and it is absolutely related to our anti America anti British government policy.

When an idiot small guy try to beat the powerful Hercules he will eventually beaten up like our whole history proved.

And people like Karatziaferis who dreaming the reborn of Byzantium are ridiculous and different to nothing to the Albanian (were dreaming Big Albania) Bulgarian Turk nationalists.

All this trash is a result of religion madness and I can make analysis on their (LAOS) whole background and I can prove what they are lunatics and dangerous for their own people.

In this stupid party you can found from Junta to King supporters, and it will be a disaster if we adopt their bullshits.

Only the fact that tries to pass Agent Greece and Byzantium like sisters is a crime when Byzantium is responsible for the killing of the 75% of the Greek people and when the word Hellinas was to describe the unwanted pagans.

They dreaming a Greek nation that actually never existed and they are spreading mythological Hellenic bullshits to some stupids like the gray wolfs spreading their own bullshits.

As about the history events I’ve write in my privius post are the truth and there is always meaning to present the truth when some uneducated zobies eating nationalistic bullshits for their breakfast.

Apollonios, there is no doubt that the nationalists (on both sides) are responsible for our predicament. The issue of whether the Turkish Cypriots are a minority or not was resolved in 1959 and the London - Zurich agreement which bears our signature. In 1959 we agreed to create an independed country composed of two communities. The Vice President, we agreed, would always be a Turkish Cypriot and furthermore, he was given veto powers, so that the TC community could effectively check the "majority". We had to sign those agreements because EOKA made a mess of things, right from the beginning. Instead of struggling for a common, independed country for all its people, we opted for a struggle for enosis with Greece, thus alienating our TC compatriots and also the leftists, who were warned by Grivas to keep away. It is safe to say that the Cyprob started at that point. By blaming every body else for our misfortunes we will be left, once again, with a bitter taste in our mouth and another major defeat, of course.

Bg-Turk, your last post is very cynical. Is that your reaction to GC nationalism or is it your final word?

Yes you have right I just meant what after the 63 our position become worst because we’ve prove what a unified state couldn’t be established and we are now in a worst position with biggest distance between the two communities and different data. Back then they was a community with minus authority on the only one zone, after the destruction of that effort we started to speaking about cooperation based in equality and not based in minority majority cooperation in the same state because of the difficulties that we cause, they (the foreigners) started to thinking about zones or multicircuit federation because of the separation of people into specific areas. It was ridiculous to ask for something else when the people were divided practically and not only psychologically the other solution was a unification with Greece and a small base for Turkey to bring some stability.

Karajaferis for example officially supporting the return of Zurich plan because for his dreaming plan by the minority rights of their community in the government it will be more possible to establish his dreaming for the great Greece, like the previous nationalists did.

We are just paying our mistakes.

Because such a party would fail. Parties by definition seek political power. I hope you understand the complications.

I am thinking of creating a movement! The movement will have GC and TC members and it will not be registered anywhere either as a society or a club. It will have an unregistered name. It will not have any Bank account for its expenses and activities. The one and only purpose of the movement is to draft a complete solution to the Cyprus problem, present it to the people and ask them to vote. If the solution gets a pass vote from both communities it will be deposited to the UN and ask them to carry themselves a referendum among all the people living in Cyprus.
The movement will bypass both RoC and the north regime and will present a solution after exchaustive discussions between GCs and TCs. What we need is people who can provide inside information and data from both sides. Every person who wants a solution is welcomed to become a member. He will be oblidged to discuss with another member of the other community in writting - something like a forum - and come to an agreement on a specific issue. Each issue will be discussed simultaneously by at least 10 couples. All agreements on issues will be presented to the general assembly of members for voting. We need to have about 500 members from each community.

You will be surprised how easily a GC and a TC come to agreement even on the most difficult issues of the CyprusProb. Even in this forum if you watch carefully there are hundreds of agreements.

I am seriously thinking about it.
