(i make more money than i ever did, twice as much as i did working in an office for 20 years as an office manager or a dental assistant.)

i do not understand how a county that is not third world, that is highly educated, does not love and respect thier pets? can someone explain this to me? aren't there any laws that get enforced regarding pets? here they are part of the family, sometimes treated as humans. they play an important role in our society, and i am glad to be a pet owner myself, and it be working in the pet industy.

are there any zoos in cyprus? where? are those animals treated humanely?

thanks for the input!

In India cows are holly animals. By their standards if you eat cows then you are cruel and a sinner ;) In Cyprus we support free range cats. Not keeping them jailed and castrated like you do ;)

i do not think that keeping them "jailed and castrated" is cruel at all. one cat can spawn thousands over a lifetime. it is cruel not to spay and neuter your pets. i guess it is all a matter of education.

If people loved animals they would be vegetarians. People use animals and keeping them as pets is just another way of using them. The worst thing that can happen to any animal (humans included) is to be castrated and jailed. If those pets could talk they would say to you what any human would say if treated in that way: "I would rather be dead"

You can use your US driver's license for six months in Cyprus, then you'd need a Cypriot one.

It's more practical to get an international license in the US if you plan to travel though.

Oh Sotos, i feel sorry for you!
plenty of humans are living a live without uteurus or after having a vasectomy, and they still lead normal, happy lives. female pets have thier reproductive organs removed. big deal. it does not make thier life miserable. male pets have thier egg sacks removed. they are not castrated. and we have all seen fixed pets funning around humping things, so they still lead an active and happy life, they just "shoot blanks."
all of my pets are fixed, and they all have (and do) lead very happy lives. it's not all about screwing you know. my cats have the run of the house, they have food, they get attention and play time. they are more happy with me than they would be out on the streets. my cats love me.

loving animals and eating them are two different things. PETS are toatally a different category than the animals you speak of that we eat. as for eating them, that is all part of life. alot of animals eat other animals. we are no different. what matters is the condition the animals are kept during thier life. if they are going to give thier life to us so that we can have a full tummy, they should be treated with the respect they deserve for giving up thier life. if we are killing a cow to feed our family, we should utalize every aspect of that cow, hense i have a leather handbag and shoes.
it's all about respect.

I totally agree gorrillaGal, my dog ıs neutered because: 1. I dont want him runnıng off if he 'scents' love is in the air, and 2. There are MORE than enough unwanted dogs around. I couldnt bear the thought of an offspring of my gentle, intelligant Giant Scnhauzer being on the streets and illtreated. - no way!

thank you Theresa,
you brought up another point: unwanted pets.... we should find homes for all the unwanted ones before we go and let the rest of them keep re-producing!
