What are Cypriot women like?

Feel free to talk about anything that you want.

Im cypriot but live in Australia, from what i know of cypriot mothers they are very protecting of their sons, dont trust the women or their friends they know, their is always a conspiracy. But then there are other mothers who are the opposite and dont make trouble and interfere with their kids lives.
As of them women from what ive seen there in cyprus they are arrogant, self obsessed and materialistic, and they expect alot from a man, but i wouldnt say all of them. Even the girls here wether european or Aussie they have changed in the last ten years, they are very materialistic, and are always trying to show off what they have, and most of them just leach off heir parents money and go around parading their clothes their cars houses, holidays you name it people do it all the time.

Itry to keep people like that away from me to a minimum, i dont have anything in common with them as they dont repsect me becasue in their ming they think they are more superior.

cheers

i agree marz and Im a girl LOL
I think parents all over the world are to blame for kids being the way they are ........some parents are so scrared to upset their kids or hurt their feelings that they are letting them become arrogant spoilt brats and once they hit the 'real world' and realise life is not just about 'them' and doesnt revolve around them then the shit hits the ceiling........

having lived in Cyprus for 5years I did find many cypriot girls to be this way - not all but most
I also found it hard to make friends with true cypriot girls - most of my friends were english cypriot or Australian cypriot
the cypriot girls needed to have an agenda to be your friend.....and they felt threatened somehow...or looked down at you if u didnt have the latest trendy outfit on or whatever.....they were backstab a lot - I found that when working in an office - the bitch fest!!!
but that happens everywhere - I just think we are more accepting of differnet people in Australia....we're not so xenophobic!
I tried i really tried to be friends with some of them but it was hard......LOL

You're just jealous ha ha

I hope you understood my meaning to say that, your wife does not think of any other Cypriot men, other than you, the husband.

Cyprus is a country where everyone knows everyone and everyone knows everyones business.....When I go to Cyprus I love it because nearly everyday we have a visitor, although the downside to that is that the house has to be spotless!! :) However even though I do see my family often in England, it's just not the same.....

Sometimes it's hard to be an 'individual', because of the close family unit, but I suppose you just have to try and assert yourself as much as you can.....It's the whole 'if you do something it will affect the whole family, or village, etc..' mentality, a mentality that is the product of a 'close' society.......
And when it comes to Cypriot men and women, well yeah they have their faults (although I'm not too keen on steriotypes, however this does apply to evey country), but generally I reckon their okay....:)

(Okay I'm getting all deep and philosophical here....not too sure if I'm actually making any sense.....:))

well said Natty - it is very hard to be an individual in such a close knit community and within a tight family unit - there are expectations to be made and I guess your life usually goes with the flow.....

but I must admit when I lived in Cyprus i saw and heard things that I wouldnt say shocked me (nothing shocks me) but made me think a lot more -

Thanks Miltiades and Anastasia!! :) I guess that's just how I see it......It's hard sometimes, and it can be frustrating, but I would never swap being 'Cypriot' for anything!! Or even being a 'British, Greek Cypriot' Lol! ;) (and I'm sure many people would agree with me!:))

I've got to get in on this one. I am british cypriot (cypriot mother english father) married to a british born cypriot. I was living in Cyprus when we met (he came over for a 3 week holiday and ended up going back with a fiancee!) and we lived in the uk for the first year of our marriage (we were going to come back to cyprus sooner, but i got pregnant on our honeymoon, so we had to wait for the baby to be born and have it's first injections). We are now three years down the line, life is good. In March i gave birth to our second child, a girl to compliment our firstborn who is a son. We are very happy- and I am not materialistic, and he doesn't cheat!
So there! :P
