I'm fortunate to have married a Cypriot girl 36 years ago this coming September. No in-law problems on either side, my wife being the daughter my parents never had and my mother in-law treating me better than her own sons.
Coming from a large Famagusta family it was not uncommon for my wife's relatives to drop in on a Sunday or a holiday as they were 'just' passing by our home. My wife's solution to these welcome but sometimes inopportune visits was to tell all of her family that if the shutters were closed on the house then we were making grand children for her mother, worked like magic
