Why did the Turkish invasion of Cyprus stop where it did?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Why did the Turkish invasion of Cyprus stop where it did?

How was the "Green Line" established. Did it just end there, there must've been a reason, did the british or americans have anything to do with it. PLease I do not want to induce any conflict i just want to know why they stopper invading where they did, thank you

As far as I understand it was a de facto border established when the UN eventually brokered a ceasefire between the warring parties. I'm sure that other members of the forum have more details.

They took what they were planning to take. Turkey and TCs had several plans for partition, including maps, since the 50s.

The took Famagusta in order to try and give it back later on in return for us accepting partition.

Turkey did not respect the ceasefire agreed. They continued with a second invasion and stopped only when they decided to stop.

If they did not stop where they did, you would be having another Israeli / Palestinian situation today, with daily fighting and killings. The whole island would have become a ghetto, with refugees all over the place. Tourist would not have existed, and Cyprus would not have been in the EU. The GC's would have lived under the rules of occupation and misery. Good thing Turkey stopped when they did. I know, thank God for small favours right.!!

It was all pre-planned and agreed between Turkey-USA/CIA UK. The exact line where Turkey would stop was known in advance. Famagusta and other areas were not included in the agreement they made with Kissinger….
