WILL THE RoC HONOUR FIDEL CASTRO AS HE APPROACHES THE END

Postby miltiades » Tue Aug 01, 2006 10:17 pm

I wonder who from the Government of Cyprus will attend , or should attend , should the hour come , and the ultimate event occurs , and will the Cypriots at large shed a tear or two for the longest serving head of state , or will they remember him as the revolutionary that stood up to their foe , America , and ruined his country in the process bringing misery and depravity to his people. The Cubans in America have begun celebrating sensing that the end is approaching and maybe they will be able to go across to Cuba and visit their loved ones.

American Cubans have always been able to go and visit their relatives in Cuba, but the American government set the rules couple of years ago, that now, they can only visit Cuba once every 3 years, as to stop the Cubans form taking US dollars to Cuba.

Who brought misery to Cuba is not Castro, but the USA who are trying to punish the Cubans for not accepting the American rule over them.

About Castro nobody in Cyprus will shed a tear. If he dies Cyprus should do what they would have done if another country leader (e.g. Blair) had died.

Miltiades, what I say is a fact. Cuba is under embargo from the USA for ages. I am not defending Castro, but the reason Cuba is poor are the American embargoes, not Castro.

what would that be Piratis?

What do you mean?

Castro has ruled his country for 47 years .The people of Cuba have endured and still do many hardships as a result of the mismanagement of the country governed by a revolutionary with limited , if indeed any , political and diplomatic skills. Many Cubans escaped to the States and improved their living conditions. This country has been tragically mismanaged by Castro who put his own ideology above the interests of his country. He has betrayed his people and through his own actions made his people suffer . Sanctions by America exacerbated an already fragile economy .Castro should be seen by his people as the American Cubans see him. A tin pot little dictator.

I'm definately no expert but from what I know Cuba has been for the last 47 years the only democraticaly elected communist government in the world.

Free education with supposedly 100% literacy

Free healthcare for everyone.

A fast growing tourist trade.

I'm sure a lot of comment will be made over the missile crisis but will anyone remember the Bay of Pigs fiasco??

No doubt when the time comes of Castros passing the Americans will try to muscle in again

They will probably try to turn Cuba into another Puerto Rico. The sad thing is I think that people are so tired of being poor that they will let them do it.
