Out of the mouths of babes..... (Greek Cypriot babes)

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Pyrpolizer wrote:So ….that was not really a poll it was a refugee school project and it was awarded the 2nd prize all over Cyprus. Everything in there was done by the kids themselves!

The most interesting part is when the schoolkids visited a TC school:

Here are some extracts :

If I would ever see those people somewhere else I would never tell they were TCs.
I was impressed when we entered the classroom and saw those people. I thought "they don’t differ at all from us"
Finally we met each other and we talked.
I really did not expect the TCs to be so friendly, and kind.
I would love to visit the TC school again….

NB.So if the Ministry of Education awards 2nd prize of excellency to such a school project, what does that tell you?

Where can I read the full report in English as it is being widely reported in the North and claims that the minds of young GCs are still being negatively effected towards TCs.

When ever a negative report comes out of any country, the rest of the world takes the news in "one piece" and not in "pieces". So, when one segment of the society ( TC's or GC's ) in Cyprus is looked upon unfavourable, that message reflects to all of the citizens of that nation, when read by someone from other nations. Bottom line is, when you put your fellow citizens down, you're infact putting yourself down.

Pyrpolizer, thanks for the info - I wonder if they will do something similar here? It is good to see that after the discussions and visit they formed a different view, after all, ALL the children of Cyprus are the Islands future, so theres hope after all?

There seems to be some destortion.

The only conclusion that we can draw from this study is that when children met the TCs, their opinions about the TCs changed. And the whole study seems to be designed to show just that, being conducted in this specific school with these extreme opinions about the TCs.

We cannot say that the GC children have this or that opinion about the TCs in general, because this is not random sampling. This probably is just one school.

Well said Sadik, from what I understand, if the GC and TC kids mixed, then their (99.9%) views/ opinions would change quite dramatically...you cannot have a balanced view on something/someone you've never met or mixed with...:(

Natty,

Just curious, is this your favourite number when it comes to percentages, because I have noticed, that's what you have been using for almost everything. I hope I can rate that high, if I ever get a chance to meet you.!!!

(I think I've moved on from using '99.9%' all the time, to using Italics...Maybe that'll become a part of me as well....Lol   )
