Out of the mouths of babes..... (Greek Cypriot babes)

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby MR-from-NG » Tue Aug 01, 2006 3:28 pm

i dont speak for everyone, my personal opinion... i am not GC.

That explains everything. I didn't think my compatriots could lower themselves to the level you have.

Just out of interest what are you?

i am just a regular turkhater... thats all.
i've been in turkey, i've been in NC... why the hell do you have to explain and try to prove that you are normal civilized nation when i've seen your crap with me eyes. You are not civilized nation, your kids are not civilized, infact 50% of those are pocket pickers and another 50% will be theifs and drug dealers.

I am glad that Cypriot parents teach their kids to stay away from you.
Problem lies in your "civilization's" development, try a bit harder, shave your mustaches, recognise Cyprus, remove Turskish troops and then you see how much friendlier everyone will become.

Thanks for the detailed explanation Ray,

For a while I thought you may have jeopordized your popularity and support on the forum.

You have however redeemed yourself with a brilliant response. No doubt you are now the envy of all members. WELL DONE.

Can anyone tell me when this survey has been published in Phileleftheros newspaper, since I have searched for it but I didn’t find anything in any of the past 10 day editions? Any links perhaps?

Fileleftheros Gazetesi, çoğunluğu Kuzey Kıbrıs'tan Kıbrıs Rum tarafına göç eden ailelerin çocuklarının gittiği bir ilkokulda, 11-12 yaşlarındaki çocukların Kıbrıslı Türkler hakkındaki düşüncelerini tespit etmek amacıyla bir araştırma yaptı

Kifeas,

The above is from the Kibris newspaper. It was featured in the Fileleftheros newspaper. I looked for the English version as a source for you to see/read but cannot find it.

Perhaps you can search in the archives of Fileleftheros to find it in Greek. The date would be around 27-30 July.

if the TC could distinguish themselves from the settlers, then i'm sure the kids would have said something different.
its about spot on for the settlers though, dont you think?

This IS the fault of the parents. I'm a British Born Greek Cypriot, born and raised in London, lived in London all my life and moved to Cyprus 2 years ago. From a young age, my parents taught me NEVER to judge anyone because of their religion, faith or where they come from, but to take each person as an individual and judge them only when I know them.
I'm now 35 years old and to this day have always lived with the "never judge a book by its cover".

Unfortunately when I first moved over to Cyprus, I was talking on my mobile phone in English. There was a man in the shop with his young son, can't have been older than 9 or 10 years old. The old man turned to his son and said to him in Greek "That man there is from England. He has alot of money, they all do from England".

I so wish I could go back to that day to put things straight, but alas, I bit my tongue and kept quiet. This kid probably still believes that everyone from England has alot of money, thanks to the influence of his father.

Same could be said about those 60% of children, the only place they learn this rubbish from is from their uneducated and uncivilised parents.

Let me stress though, not all GC are like that. Alot of GC have asked me if I have ever been to Northern Cyprus. I always get a lecture on how I should go and visit, meet the TC people living there and that I will be made to feel at home which I do believe will be true. I just haven't had the chance to go.......but I will, and I look forward to going some day!

I said it many times and I will say it again: illegalities, discriminations and crimes generate hate.

Or maybe you think that the Palestians or the Lebanese love the Israelis? If you ask a Lebanese child what he thinks about the Israelis and you got some very nasty words, would you blame the child? Or you would blame the Israeli government for their criminal actions that create this hate?

To stop this we need to end the root of the problem and end the illegalities, the crimes and the discriminations in Cyprus.

Souroul , please dont be so predudiced. If a child is a pick pocket ort hief, they are what they are - a pickpocket or thief. Being a turkish settlers child doesnt make them so. Thats like saying all Irish Catholics are part of the IRA - total rubbish!!! What do you suggest the Turkish Cypriots do - make all the "settlers" wear arm bands - like the Nazis did to the jews?
