Are there any CYPRIOTS here?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

It seems to me that security is the most important concern of most T/Cs. Since Cyprus is now part of the EU and has to conform with EU standards and practices would it not be possible for the security (police and armed forces) of the island to be temporarily under the control of that body during which time trust can be re-established between the two communities. The Turkish army could then withdraw and the National guard could be disbanded.

Of course it is. However the TCs still want partition. Either real or disguised. They even want Turkey (our slaughterer) to be our guarantor !!!!
Imagine this is equivalent to us wanting Grivas (their slaughterer) to be their guarantor !!!!

The Tcs only think of themselves. It’s almost schizophrenic.

Wherever I go I see people arguing about the same old things over and over. Almost all discussions are about things of the past. If the future is mentioned it is usually for a threat!

And I am asking: What is the point? Aren't you tired yet?

I would therefore like to propose a better, in my opinion, approach. You can reject it, you have the right to, but at least I will not feel guilty for not saying it.

I propose to make August a month were ONLY the future is discussed and were the discussions are made ONLY by the true CYPRIOTS. And true Cypriots, always in my opinion, are those that believe in one Cyprus and one Cypriot people. Those that don't judge their compatriots based on language or religion. Those that believe that there is just "us", the CYPRIOTS, not "us VS them".

The partitionists, the enosists, the racists and the extremists maybe could take August off. This would not limit their freedom of speech in any way as their position is already well documented in the 95000 posts of this forum and elsewhere. But if we finally manage to have some discussions about the future of Cyprus for the benefit of all Cypriots then who knows, maybe something new and useful will come out.

What do you think?

I am in also.

Thats the kind of attitude that's preventing us from having a future.

Andri, for Viewpoint and many other TCs the "way forward" is partition. Unlike GCs that have abandoned their extreme dream for enosis, many TCs have not abandoned their own since they still believe it is achievable.

The Annan partition plan came to rescue Turkey at a moment that TCs started to realize that their insistence on partition and illegality can have only negative effects on them. Then the Annan plan came along to make the TCs believe that their aim for partition could be achieved.

Don't expect to have any positive kind of discussion with Viewpoint. His aims are only:
1) Spread hate and division among Cypriots - something which helps his aim for partition
2) Promote the Turkish propaganda online
3) Convince Greek Cypriots that asking for true unity is useless.

Let me go first.

Hi everbody. This is my first messege in this forum. I hope we can understand each others' points here.

There are too many things which I would like to ask to the GC's. But, the first questions will go to Mr. Pirates, because of his article which he wrote:

"Bananiot, mrfromng and viewpoint do not believe in one Cypriot people and that all Cypriots should be one without discriminations amongst them based on their language and religion."

I do not agree whit that Mr. Pirates. It is the GC administration who did discriminations since 1960. Although I can state many of them, I'll mention only two domestic discrimination at his moment:

While electricty brought to many GC villages and GC sector of the TC-GC villages between 1960-1963, why didn't we got it equal or proportional?
How many miles roads asphalted in de GC villages and GC sector of the GC-TC villages between 1960-1963, while we got almost nothing? IF it was not discrimination, what was it than? Now, please let me know, if any, what kind of discrimination(s) we applied to the GC's in that periode. Than, we can come step by step to the present time.

"Excuses from the past"??? The patriot of AKRITAS is NOW the president of The Greek Administration, isn't he? So, PAST is still ON THE TOP. With his ideas, with his goals... And the others!...

It ought to be remembered that the division of Cyprus is NOT in 1974 but in DECEMBER 1963 happened. Reason was, as we both know, the attempt of the GC's to take away not only our human rights, legal and democratic rights, but also our land and our lives.

Is there any GC who expressed his sorrow for murdering unarmed babies, elderlies, women TC's? If not, why? Did any of them questioned for his crimes? If not, why? Most of them are known... Even, hundreds of them got medallies for what they did. Some of them have statues, some of them have important offices in The Greek Administration. They are not punished for their crimes but honoured by The Greek Administration. How can anybody seek justice, equal rights from them?
Show me one good reason, if any, to make me trust to the GC's. Show me one good reason, to make me to believe that any peace-agreement which can be reached, will not be torn away by the GC's, as they did to "The Consitution of Cyprus Republic" and to the "London and Zurich Agreements".

By the way, is there any Greek leader who accepts the veto right of TC's, if an agreement is reached? If not, why?

I wish a nice day to everybody.

Today Cyprus is illegally divided because of the illegal Turkish occupation.

This de facto partition happened in 1974 when Turkey invaded the sovereign country of Republic Cyprus.

These are the facts about the division as it exists today.

Beyond that if you want to find the root of the problem and the chain of events then you have to start from the beginning and not at a convenient date that suits your propaganda needs.

This thread is about the future. But if you want to go to the past and see when Cypriots were initially divided among upper class Muslims and second class Christians and compare the amount of oppression and suffering that each side has caused to the other, let me know.

However I would like to ask you and the other partitionists and supporters of crimes and illegalities, to take your lame excuses elsewhere. The future of Cyprus should be one of democracy and human rights, and not anything else because it suits you better that way.

Teach your selective version of history to your children. Here you can either leave the past behind altogether and talk about how we can create a normal democratic country in Cyprus, with respect to human rights and without racist discriminations, or if YOU insist on taking us to the past because you believe it suits your aim better, then either you like it or not the whole history will be discussed and not just the tiny parts that you selectively chosen to present GCs as the "evils" and excuse the crimes and illegalities of today.

Is there any GC who expressed his sorrow for murdering unarmed babies, elderlies, women TC's? If not, why?

Yes, many. I did also. And I express my sorrow again here.
Now, will you do the same for the 100 times more murders, rapes and oppression that Turks have caused to Greek Cypriots and continue to do so as we speak? Or instead you will continue celebrating those crimes, and continue to commit them TODAY?

Welcome to them forum and have a nice day too.

Since your first post is in this thread maybe it would be a better idea to start with respect and the future in mind and not just about how to selectively use the past to convict Cypriots to even more human rights violations and discriminations.

TCs had suffered in the past, and GCs had suffered more. Now should the intention be how to use that past to cause more suffering, or how to finally end the human rights violations and discriminations once and for all in order to have a better future?
