When the shoe is on the other foot.

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

rolo, there was not revenge of GCs against TCs. In fact both sides had about the same amount of dead during the intercommunal conflict.

What was different is that for a couple of decades the Turks did not have the exclusivity in committing crimes like they did for the most part of our common history before and after those years.

In fact GCs had condemned that 1/100th of crimes they have committed. Unfortunally the Turks not only they have not condemned the 100 times more crimes they committed, not only they celebrate them, they insist on crimes and illegalities as we speak.

The Gcs were the major force then in Cyprus, they alone had the power to guarantee freedom and equality for all its citizens, both Greek AND Turk.

Wrong. The constidution that was forced on the Cypriot people and was not a result of their own will, had discrimination "build-in". In fact when Greek Cypriots proposed that discriminations such as that the 18% of people should have 30% of governmental jobs, should be removed to make Cyprus a place were all citizens would be equal with equal opportunities, Turkey and TCs rejected these proposals.
Therefore as you can see it was not up to the GCs alone to create equality among all citizens. It was up to the TCs also, and they have unfortunately rejected it.

We must all at some stage recognise our past mistakes and leave them behind us, if we are ever to move on.

This is what I always say. I never asked for the punishment of any TC (or even Turk) for their crimes of the past. What I always say is that we should leave the past behind and move ahead with human rights and democracy for all, and without the racist discriminations that plaque our island since the time of the Ottoman rule.

Hey if you don't trust the GCs feel free to leave from Cyprus in the same way that you came, since you are oppressing us and violating our human rights every since.

Piratis,

How about you packing your bags and moving to Greece. You complain your right are being violated. You killed and probably would die for ENOSIS this way your dreams would become reality and us TC's would have improved quality of life with the likes of you out of Cyprus.

Please also remember this. You are in no position to tell anybody to leave Cyprus. You, your president, EOKA members, even your motherland Greece couldn't do this. You are insignificant.

Your brother should know the exact name is/was "English School" not "English College". Could you please ask your brother to tell you what the TC students of English school were doing during the weekends, and what they were boasting about on Monday to their GC classmates?

Prypolizer,

No doubt my brother would know what his school would have been called. It's obvious I got it wrong. Piratis believes it's a made up story. I wouldn't expect no other reaction from him or majority of GC's for that matter.

How about you packing your bags and moving to Greece.

Cyprus is our island and we have been here for 3500 years. If you didn't like us then why you came to Cyprus? (oh, yes, to exploit us, I forgot)

You complain your right are being violated.

I am stating the obvious.

You killed and probably would die for ENOSIS this way your dreams would become reality and us TC's would have improved quality of life with the likes of you out of Cyprus.

I have not killed and I do not support any kind of crimes like the criminals like you do. And if you find anywhere that I ever said that I want "enosis" then I will give you a gift. What I want is respect to our human and democratic rights as well as respect to the sovergnity of my country.

You, your president, EOKA members, even your motherland Greece couldn't do this. You are insignificant.

Do you remember this:

What happened? I am sure the Ottoman sultans would also laugh if somebody told them the the balance of power would chance some day.

So instead of telling us that we are "insignificant" you better start showing some respect as you ought to.

Piratis you seem to think people shoudl be worried about the idea that power will swing your way and you will claim the whole island. Well Piratis it wont be in your life time so why push the point at every opportunity, is it some sort of threat?

If you want the human rights and democracy you claim you are being denied then you have to tell your leaders to work harder and really genuinely desire a solution acceptable to both sides. They have to realize we are their future partners who they have to work closely with in order to win over the TCs and clear up many of the questions marks in the majority of TCs minds about the sincerity of the GC administration in wanting to build a united Cyprus.

Am I right in detecting that you rest ALL your hopes on the GC leaders working harder and harder? And that you actually lost all hope the TC leaders/puppets of Turkey will do anything?

I mean just look what Talat did: He met with UN envoy Mr Campari one month ago. They agreed the procedure the GCs&TCs would work upon. And instead of concentrating in producing some results with the agreed procedure-he went on 15 days later writting a letter to the UN saying he is ready to meet and discuss with honorable Mr Papadopoulos a solution on the basis of…. Anan Plan!!!!!
Did he forget what he agreed 15 days earlier???? Is this the way he works "hard"?

Where did I say it’s a made up story? All indications so far prove it’s a hearsay story. As a hearsay story it just presents a tiny part of the truth. So if you are interested to learn the whole truth then ask your brother this question:

what the TC students of English school were doing during the weekends, and what they were boasting about on Monday to their GC classmates?

I am waiting the reply of your brother. Also since I came across a ton of lies/made up /hearsay stories in this forum from TCs (the last one been that of twity Kerez guy and his story about Tochni) ask your brother who his Principal at the English School was.

NB. I bet your brother will not be able to answer any of my questions. I bet he will say he does not remember the name of his Principal at the English School. FYI however, there is NOT even one student of the English School (GC or TC) who does not remember the name of his famous Principal.

Prypilizer,

I'm the brother that tells "lies". I attended the English School between 1960-1963 until the Greeks decided to attack the Turkish minority.

During the three years I attended the English School, I had to endure daily attacks by Greek youths filled with hatred and not once did I cycle to school alone. We had to form at least a half dozen of us before we could set off on our journey.

As if the daily gauntlet of avoiding stone throwers wasn't enough, teachers like Mavrogenis who kept Turks out of school football teams as he was a racist pig. His son was always picked for the school team.

I was in Newham and was one of the most promising young footballers as well as a couple of my best friends. Eventually the headmaster who had watched us playing one afternoon, asked if we played for our school. Obviously we hadn't been picked by Mavrogenis the Turk hater. After pressure from the Headmaster myself and my two best friends played for the under 16s. I scored 2 against RAF boys in my first game. My friend in the goal was a sensation. My other friend who was killed in 1974 was amazing in midfield.

I can't honestly remember the headmaster's name. May have been Ecclestone. I can only remember the hatred that was directed by Greeks of all ages and hated going to school even though I loved the facilities of the English School and the high standard of teaching.

As for the weekends I honestly don't know what you are referring to, but I do remember the seniors arming themselves with bicycle chains etc. to have confrontations with Greek senior boys.

I for one would not miss a Greek if I never saw one again for the rest of my life.

Regards,
Ex English School Student
