I would learn some of the lingo first, this will help you find work I'm sure.

We have booked onto a 20 week Greek course at local college for £75.00

I met with the General Manager of Paphos Airport, this morning and I doubt if he speaks Greek; he is French with excellent English. However, he is in a privileged position, 'Greek speaking' will be essential attribute for most people working there.

How useful is 'Greek' Greek? Is it easy to adapt to Cypriot Greek? Or even Paphos (country-boy) Greek? :-)

'Greek' greek would give you a good grounding for moving to Cyprus.
Probably a bit like a Cypriot learning English and then moving over to Scotland.
I did it the opposite way. I learnt 'Cypriot Greek' the hard way by living amongst Cypriots but since then I've used a CD course to learn Greek which helps with technical terms.

As for Pafitika I think even other Cypriots find it a whole new language sometimes!!

Hia Id tell anyone to seriously think about moving here I thought Id walk straight into a job here NO CHANCE especially in the building industry, Cyprus is a great place if youve got loads of money or your retired and youve bought morgage free. If you come here have about 30grand behind you if you are thinking of moving for good.
