ISRAEL MURDERS LEBANESE CHILDREN

Feel free to talk about anything that you want.

I have many articles from the mail and other sources, and peoplesit views, that it seems like you dont want to see whats happening here, or think of it as quaint, its not quaint it hurts people.. Backward mentallities are dangerous and ruin peoples lives. i could put a 100 articles from intellectual cypriots on here that are saying the same thing.. People come here with a dream, they think 'ahh they are in the EU so it must be the same rules as England , lets go and live there' and then find that life is not the same and the same rules do not apply...

I have spoken to EU representatives, and all say that Cyprus will never be European in its outlook, not in our lifetime. A well respected psychologist did research here and said.. it was the most egocentric place he had even been too. Change can only come if people can accept there is a problem, denial and misplaced loyalty helps no one. Be loyal to good values, justice and equality.. i am a child of the universe, not of a country, i fought in England for certain things to change and will fight here too. And when you all stop defending wrong just because of loyalties then maybe you can make changes too.

Its a well known fact Cypriots take any critisism personally, but if you didnt and started to take a look at what people say and then try to make changes it would be a better reaction than one of thinking its all about you.. thats egocentric, the way cypriots drive is about them getting there first, even if you endanger others lives to do it... thats egocentricity... parking on the pavement is about you being close to your goal even if it makes other peoples life more difficult, thats egocentricity.. when everything is done to make your life better , without taking any consideration for others in any shape or form, this is egocentric... Its an immaturity like children and immoral.

This is not a judgement its a fact... The result is that they hurt others, in their rush to put themselves first... No one will argue that Cyprus needs to grow up, and realise its not the center of the universe.. But meanwhile people are being hurt lives endangered and made miserable because of it.. All these factors are evidence that the cyprob will never be resolved, thats realistic thinking. If you all stopped talking and moaning as victims and start putting your own corner straight then that would be more advantageous and proactive than wasting time moaning about what you dont have and doing something with what you do.. A Greek Cypriot wrote this in the Cyprus mail...........

The Greek Cypriot has grown fat and lazy, and thus averse to change due to the benefits accrued from inflated land and property values, easy access to bank loans and a deceptive sense of security in the misheld belief that half a safe loaf is better than none. He must learn to share, slim down and become efficient, accept that the good days are over and the modern world waits for no man. His insular island mentality must develop quickly into an understanding and acceptance of a broader European concept, many new laws and efficient administration. The bank clerk, like the island, deludes herself into believing she is stylish. Perhaps so, but there is little sophistication. She must adapt now or be overrun by those that are hungry for progress. It is time to stop talking and become realistic, time to accept that Cyprus is an insignificant island in Our Master's overall scheme of things, that there are far too many chiefs here and not enough Indians, that those with anything of value to say do not appear on television; half the island does repetitively! There will always be argument and counter argument concerning the Cyprob, simply put two Cypriots together to solve a single problem and they will arrive at five unworkable separate solutions.

They are their own worst enemy, children blame others, children are selfish, jealous and greedy, children dont take personal responsibility for what they think and do, children dont have empathy for sentients, children dont see that the way they act hurt others, and most of all children believe what others more powerful tell them....... Cypriots are indoctinated from children into the belief that they were blameless for what happened in 1974... common sense must tell you that if the mentallity is backward now, what must it have been like then.. especially gullabillity, we only hear now what the governments want us to know, so you can bet your boots it wasnt all true what they told you then...... You may not like what i say, but i have a right to express how i feel, and it may encourage others to do the same....

But that would ignore the origins of the word which comes from the Greek Xenos...

English is one of those languages that just confuses some eh...

But you want to change it, ignoring its culture and heritage...

G Man , I was being humorous , but like the French who add an s at the end of many words and never pronounce it , or for instance the pronunciation of the phrase grand prix , pronounced nothing like how is spelled. Basically I just take the piss out of such peculiarities. The word xenophobia is a perfect example. I do of course appreciate that the French and English , as well as many other European languages are not phonetic such as the Greek , Spanish , Italian etc,.

The EU representatives that you spoke to , and who expressed the opinion that Cyprus would never be European , are perhaps correct. After all the UK has been in Europe for more than 30 years and it is still considered by most of Europe as not European , the same applies to newcomer Malta . Such generalizations are misleading .
Cyprus has made huge strides and progress in all departments , there are a myriad of situations that warrant closer attention not least the areas that you mentioned in your post , driving , parking , selfishness , jealusy etc etc.
And yes I do want to know what is happening in Cyprus , I do not close my eyes , and I do condemn practices and actions that make life uncomfortable. I'm also mature enough to understand that Cypriots behaviour is very much that of people from the Eastern Mediterranean and in line with the behaviour of small societies.
I will give one example. Two years ago Iwas stopped while in Paphos by a young Policeman on a motorbike for speeding. I apologised , he was about to book me when I asked him where he was from .He gave me the name of the village he came from , and I knew the village well , I was born there. He did not book me. Perfectly rational in a small place.
