Its so funny you put Manniquin down as I was saying to my Husband yesterday how I liked that film and wouldnt mind seeing it again.... how bizarre!!!!

Love planes also, so "TOP GUN" is in my collections of DVD's. I have spent a lot of times in "Death Valley", California over the years, and you can see these pilots "hot doging" in the valley. One time a group of us were up on the ledge of the valley which was about 4,000 feet above the valley floor, when few F-16's flew over our heads into the valley doing no less than 400 knots. They flew right into the valley, where one of them, upon reaching the valley floor, made a 180° left bank, and headed directly at us. It took what seem to be about a minute before reaching us, and flew right over our heads no more than 200 feet. That was really cool.

that sounds exiting, we have an airshow once a year in southend england, and f16's and the red arrows would do stunts and other planes would fly really low too. very thrilling, but damn noisy..

When I was a young lad, a friend (another plane nut) and I would go to Biggin Hill and Farnbrough air shows in the UK. In the States, during fleet week in San Francisco, the "Blue Angles" put on a good show over the Bay. Still go to air shows here in Switzerland. The "Red Arrows" were here 2 years ago. It's always a good show.

My dad was in the RAF so we jumped about a bit to a few bases when I was a kid. In the end we were at Valley in Anglesey (where everyone trains first apparently, or did at least). You would get a lot of Hawks there (Red Arrow plane). In a valley in mid-wales, when we used to travel to our relatives, you would see quite a few Hawks well below you flying really low. One time, before I had my driving licence (was with my Dad) I was driving along this valley and saw a Hawk really low down. Ignored him though as I was seriously concentrating on driving (new driver and really bad roads don't mix). Anyway a couple of minutes later I was going up this blind hill (ie. you couldn't see over the top) when at the same moment I hit the top of the hill the Hawk came right over the top of us (ie. filled my windscreen then instantly went behind us) while doing a roll. No-one believes that story, but it's true. The only reason I didn't crash us off the cliff was because I was concentrating so hard in the first place. Bloody shocking though.

Cheers
