Internet & Cable TV

Postby Talar » Wed Jul 19, 2006 11:27 pm

Hi, I just moved to Nicosia and I was wondering if anyone could advise me about the kind of internet connection I should get? What about cable TV? I would really appreciate it also if anyone could elaborate the steps I should be following to get each whether signing contracts or getting a land line, etc. Any tips or problems I should be alert about? Will be waiting for your replies. Thanks a lot!

You have 2 options: 1) i-choice ADSL + Mivision (TV) from Cyta or 2) PrimeHome (ADSL + TV) from Primetel. For both you will need a telephone line first. You should aply to Cyta for one if you don't have it yet!

When you register with Cyta, you have to have with you your passport. They charge you a deposit (can't quite remember how much, but it's around 50 pound) they also charge an installation fee which you can choose to pay over a 12 month installment on your bill if you want. We have a land line along with i-choice 1000 internet. it's supposed to be super quick and the fastest they have but to be honest, it's not all that quick.. at least not compared to what i'm used to back home. We're looking into this mi-vision thing they have, where you can get television channels thru your internet connection. costs 10 pound a month on top of your ichoice internet 32 i think that is.. they did have a promo some time ago where you pay ofr mi-vision for 6 months and you get 6 months free.. not sure if it's still on, we're looking into it.
hope this helps

Hi epage,

If you take the Title Deeds of your property to CYTA when you order, they will not require a deposit.

Cheers,
