The merits of the TCs over the GCs and vice versa.

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

The merits of the TCs over the GCs and vice versa.

The merits of the TCs over the GCs and vice versa.

Here’s a title that came to my mind to brake the monotony.
Please talk only for the MERITS of the other community, as you experienced. If you have no experience then write what you think. But only for the merits please. And please try to justify your opinion.

To start the Engine: I am a GC and I will talk about the TCs.

a) The TCs never lived under any conqueror. In this respect they never needed to develop the cunning techniques, the intrique, the underground mentality, the "playing friends" of the GCs. They are absolutely straight both with their friendships as well as with those they don’t like. And they never change their minds.

b) They learn from childhood to keep their mouth shut, and keep a low profile. For a GC someone who does not reply, is automatically wrong, thus makes him feel right. Therefore for the GCs silence is a sign of weakness. For the TCs it’s a sign of strength. However when the TC cannot hold no more bursts up violently.

c) The TCs (like the Turks in general) have a sense of pride unexplainable to the GCs. This derives from A above. For a Gc it is not a big deal to exchange some of his "pride" for something more useful. For the Turks and Tcs "pride" is not exchangeable with anything.

d) The Tcs abide to authority. The Gcs rebel.

e) Because of the above the Tcs have much more unity between them. It is very rare for a Tc to oppose his own kind, and even when they do, they do it mildly. Quite the opposite for the GCs

f) The majority of TCs do good (or bad) to their fellowman judging by their concience. The majority of GCs do the same judging by what their relegion says, and they forget relegion when it comes to do bad.

And finally please excuse a widespread joke even if it brakes my code a bit.

g) The Turks are 70 million stupids. They find a clever one among them and make him their leader. The Greeks are 12 million clevers. They find an idiot among them and make him their leader.

The GCs/Tcs oscillate between the two.

Dangerous, implicit support for turkish accusations Pyrpolizer.

This isnt intended in a malicious way, rather out of admiration - the one thing i can say with certainty is that greeks are better at selling themselves, i mean in terms of propaganda or getting a message across. You might ascribe the dismal turkish efforts to get across their side of any story to incompetence (which is unlikely, as ive seen more than enough evidence that if we put our minds to it - well turks from turkey at least - we can achieve anything) or, more likely, to the apathy that comes with being a former imperial power and resting on your laurels

Hi fener,

Well, nobody can avoid over generalisisations in such a highly personal opinion topic. In fact if you prefer, my intention was to concentrate here our over generalisations regarding the other community. And to avoid turning this topic into a usual battle field, I asked that we only mention the merits.

What you wrote about the Greeks and GCs, and the Turks and TCs are very valid observations imho.

ri-ite, hehe. well, fair enough, it is interesting topic and its nice to know our impressions of eachother.

Personally i think b, d and e generally apply more to Turks from Turkey than those from cyprus, for better or for worse (usually the latter!).

Im not what the gcs are like but id tend to accuse tcs of being self-important to an almost offensive degree

As for greeks, only know a physical generalization im afraid - a few people i know think youre hairier and darker looking than us, but i wouldnt know

Thinking of it, it seems your partially right. The other day someone introduced me a real gentleman, he had blue eyes, almost britishlike face, he said he is a TC, his uncle is xxx (a very well known TC), and was born and raised at Paphos!
Do you think the story that says many TCs are decentants of the Venetians/Latins holds some truth after all?
Hey even Talat is blond!

Anyway the truth is you cannot tell for sure who is a GC and who is a TC in Cyprus, can you.

NB.Just a favor if I may ask. Refer to us like GCs as we refer to you like TCs not …Turks.

Oh,oh …. sorry I just noticed you corrected it already. Bravo. We communicate. :!:

Hey, I think it depends where you come from in CY, my mothers family are from the mountains and they are quite fair, my mum is actually naturally blond! Although you really can't tell who's a GC or who's a TC, however I have heard people say that TC's and mainland Turks look slightly different, they tend to be darker I believe..
