Hi,

A friend of mine is moving to Cyprus in November.

He wants to bring his motorcycle, a BMW R1150GS with him.

The bike weighs approx 225Kgs

Can someone enlighten me to the procedures for import a motorcycle, possible costs and pitfall to avoid.

Hi Del,

Motorcycles do not qualify for relief from Excise Duty. I suggest you speak with your shipping agent, they'll be able to provide you with details.

And take a look through the Customs & Excise website at: http://www.mof.gov.cy/mof/customs/Custo ... enFrameSet

and perhaps write to the Director for clarification.

Hello there ive just imported my BMW K1200RS to Cyprus a bit of advice get an agent to help you with this it may cost you a few pounds but I tell you its worth every penny if you want his number il give you it if you send me a PM on this forum,I have taken a visitiors yellow slip from custom for three months and it has to renwed every three months up to a year then you will have to pay import duty unless the law changes to EU regs I doubt it , they work on a scale as I see it the puchase price when bought , the age , the cc, and how old it is now ,have all paperwork for the bike and you must have owned it at least 3 month before bringing it into Cyprus, I recon my 1998 bike is going tocost me from £600 upwards to bring in.
