ANIMAL CRUELTY IN CYPRUS

Feel free to talk about anything that you want.

They are all gorgeous cant wait to meet them.
I have a boxer his name is Max , I had him since a puppy , he is so intelligent and so human. My previous dog was a black Alsatian and you don't get many of them around. Max comes to work with me every day apart from Saturday , his day off !
He looks menacing at times but he is a big softy.
We were hoping to retire to Cyprus too , but my wife's illness doesn't allow us to do so just yet since we rely so much on the care we get here in the UK.

We have 3 boxers at the shelter, a brindle and two reds, all are great fun and very boistrous, i think i have got an new owner for one of them. Sorry to hear about your wife, and yes its so true there isnt any infrastructure or care for the disabled here, and i would know as i broke my ankle 5 months ago and had pins and a metal plate put in and it was a nightmare without care of any kind apart from good friends to help. Even though i went private i only got hospital care and nothing outside of it. whereas in England you would get a home help if on your own, and benefits, i dont think many people realise how different life is here when the unexpected happens. Thats why forums like this are good because they put a bit of reality into the dream. So long as people are honest, then others can make a more realistic judgement.

During my wife's illness that was diagnosed in July of 2002 , having gone though two operations and chemotherapy , she was determined to make it to our daughters wedding in Cyprus. She made it to the Registry wedding. Our daughter became pregnant , and again my wife was determined to make to Limassol for the birth .She made it. She went back again and agian , but on 4 occasions she was admitted to the Limassol Polyclinic , where we found this wonderful Doctor , his name is Dr.Demetris , who took care of my wife and helped her recover enough to travel back to the UK.We are lucky that we live near Sutton and have the finest hospital in the world the Royal Marsden.
The care we received in Cyprus on the 4 occasions that were needed was on the whole very good. The Matron at the clinic is English and every one spoke good English. As you say the care here , subject to which Hospital you go to , is very good . We have a nurse every day administering the required injections , all free of charge. !!

unique earthling, I have an idea! Lol it didnt hurt too much, but an idea to maybe rehome a small amount of your animals. May be once or twice a week you could post a picture and a little story about one of the animals in your shelter and maybe it might just pull on some heart strings with some of the brits on here and you may find some homes. Even if it works once or twice its better than not at all. I know in the next year or two I will be looking for a pet dog, my husband would really like one, so you never know one of your lovelly animals might come stay with us.
The reason i sugested you do this is after seeing those pics on the other page i wanted to take them all, so it might work, especially if you say a little on each, like where they were found what their temprament is like, things like that. Just an idea.

What a wonderful idea. I am sure UE would rehome half her dogs in this manner. A picture tells a story and if there are pictures, how could anyone fail to fall in love with them? Only don't tell my husband cause he would kill me if he thought we were going to get another dog. We have the three at the moment, but who knows?????

I cant see them having a problem with it, its all in aid of animals in cyprus, and compared to what does get posted on here it would make a change to be doing something worth while. Everyone on here seems passionate about the animal situation here in cyprus so come on Lana please!!!!!!!!!!!!

Talking about animal cruelty , not many of us knew the fate of greyhound racing dogs once retired. The Sunday times yesterday alleged that up to 10000 Greyhounds were killed by one man alone who apparently was paid £10.00 per killing. The go on to say that about a thousand Greyhounds are shot every year in the UK .
I would have thought the racing authorities made enough money out of the greyhounds during their racing days , so that they could find another way to treat these pour animals once retired. I'm sure thank full that when I retire no bastard is going to shoot me.
