ANIMAL CRUELTY IN CYPRUS

Feel free to talk about anything that you want.

I think in Cyprus its a matter of pure ignorance , there are no precedents of such people progressing to either murder or other serious crimes .

ignorance????? so if i burn torture deliberately i am only being ignorant???? your telling me that those men didnt realise it would be agony for the animals??? and if i laugh and sing and joke whilst doing it i am just being ignorant???? to be able to do something like that you have to have no empathy for a sentient life, no feelings = psychopathic tendancies. And it is well documented that those that can do these things deliberately are mentally disfunctional. I really question thats ignorance, they were not 3 year olds they were adults. And believe me in the very dark parts of my psychi i can find nothing that would ever make me want or be able to do such a thing. Ignorance is not understanding an animals needs, setting light to an animal and laughing is psychopathic behaviour.

Here here :!:

How can anyone call this ignorance?? Its down right bloody murder. IMHO animals are living breathing creatures and feel pain just like we do, the only difference is they can't really defend themselves as we can.

Lock these heartless buggars up and throw away the key :x

Well thats what the American profilers say is how serial killers progress, but I have no idea. I think they know better-they have had their share of serial killers.

Gooday, I first came to the island in 1961 when serving with the British Military and came back on three later occasions to serve on-island. During the period 1961 to 1992 my wife and I lived and worked in Cyprus for 15 years and retired her in 2004. We live a village and dogs continuously bark and cry out day and night, quite honestly we now don't hear them! But my point is this, my wife and I do NOT think much has proved on the animal welfare side of things: the bodies of cats and dogs can be found laying on many island roads each and every day. Although proud, it is sad to say that possibly ALL the charitable animal rescue and welfare associations are British run. Although now few on-island, even today donkeys are mistreated! When you consider that most Cypriots have no regard for each other when in a vehicle, through not using seatbelts, animals are a big fat zero....

Freddy , you are absolutely right , it is indeed a stigma on the Cypriot people that animal welfare is not high up on the agenda . I, as a Cypriot , leaving in the UK , feel very ashamed at the way my people in Cyprus treat animals.
I mentioned earlier that its mainly due to ignorance , because when I was a child in Cyprus , I also was cruel to animals. I knew no better . I have had dogs for many years now , my current dog is a Boxer , 8 years old , I love him like a son , and he is a member of my family. When growing up in Cyprus I found it quite amusing to stone dogs purely because they were there, I was ignorant and I wasn't reprimanded for doing so by the elders .
Hope that you are having a pleasant retirement in Cyprus and do your bit for the poor animals.

As i have previously said miltiades, what a child does is one thing, what a grown man does is quite another.

ue , what these young men did was cruel and sadistic, we all agree on this . However in Cyprus there are no known cases of serial killings or sadistic killings committed by people who had also committed cruelty to animals.

On the whole Cyprus has made huge strides in animal welfare , mostly because of direct action by the British residents .
