Hello l.miss. Glad to hear your feeling well. Me? I am hot and bothered after moving from the mountains to larnaca, but I have great www connection...Hurrah!!! In answer to your question about giving up work, well it depends what you do. If you are doing a really strenuous job with lifting and carrying heavy loads then you should serously be considering giving up now. But if you are doing a job that isnt overly strenuous and you are feeling well, if you can take regular breaks to rest/sit down, all your antenatal checks show that your work is having no ill effects on you or the baby, then give up when you like. If you want to carry on for as long as possible, then I would advise that you stop at least 2-3 weeks before your due date. This will enable you to rest properly, and to gather your energy and strength for the coming birth. As for the home birth that jazzy mentions, I would love to, but alas - I cannot. I am governed by the codes of practice as set by the UK Nursing and Midwifery Council. I cannot give you a home birthing experience as much as i would like to because I would have no midwife partner (we always work in pairs as when the baby is delivered, there are two people to look after) and would not have any medical back up. I am a great believer in home birth and the normality of child birth and hate the fact that it has become so medicalised making people believe that being pregnant and delivering a baby are almost like 'illnesses' when it should be a wonderful time. Dont be afraid to attend your antenatal checks, and certainly dont be afraid to ask questions, and keep asking until you get the answers you need. Go in, and mean business. They are working for you don't forget. Its YOUR body. Its YOUR baby. If you dont understand what something means, or what someone is saying ask them to explain or say it in a different way, a way that you CAN understand. They will respect you for it. Have you been attending any antenatal classes? You can email me now if you like as my new superduper www connection is so good I can connect in a jiffy....not the 12 hours or so it took me before. Tip:- Make sure you are getting plenty of iron. Are you taking a supplement? Have you had your iron levels checked? Eat lots of iron rich foods with a healthy varied diet. The iron is stored in your body and will give you the energy you will need for the birthing, and to help counter the effects of any blood loss after delivery. Are you having your blood pressure and urine checked regularly? If you are not then do so. Hope I'm not turning into a nag here, he he. Take care. pammie x
