How long to get a Cyprus medical card?

Postby mrterrific » Sun Jul 02, 2006 1:07 pm

Right then. I'm transferring my normal residence to Cyprus. I'm also importing my car. As far as I can tell, in order to register my car in Cyprus, I need to first register as an alien. To do this I need to apply for a medical card, once I have my E106. I know that the alien reg. process can take a wee while. Anyone know how long it typically takes to get the medical card?

Cheers,
MrT

Hi MrT

E106 - so you are a worker from another Member State posted to work in Cyprus for more than one year.

Here's what you need to do.

Forms E106
You must register with the Cyprus Ministry of Health. On arrival in Cyprus, you should contact a Cyprus State Hospital or the Ministry of Health, where you will be given an application form for a Cyprus Medical Card. The completed application form should be submitted to a state hospital or the Ministry of Health together with the appropriate E-form and supporting documents required according to instructions. The application will be processed by the Ministry of Health as quickly as possible. The Cyprus Medical card will entitle you to receive healthcare in Cyprus for the duration covered by the card.

Err - no. I'm an individual from a member state simply transferring my residency. According to the DWP web-site (and Long Benton located lady from the DWP I spoke to) E106 covers this.

Hi MrT

Aha that's an E106 (residual) - A UK person under pensionable age coming to live permanently in Cyprus.

It may also be worthwhile looking at the Cyprus Ministry of Health website - http://www.moh.gov.cy/MOH/moh.nsf/All/B ... enDocument has a document about healthcare for EU citizens - the various forms you will need can be found on the site as well.
