Bill , you sound a lot like Despo , I'm just wondering if you are the same person , why do I say this , condescending statements such as the one below that you posted .
"""Right thats it --the end -- when I first joined this forum I was disappointed to see that it was very political and at times full of hate -- I vowed never to join in on any political discussion -- I've broke my promise to my self -- but it will never happen again --- you can argue amongst yourselves til the cows come home --fuel your hate to your hearts content --it won't make a bit of difference to any future solution--that my friend is out of our / your control """
You joined this forum and you went straight for the political threads , naturally it dealt with politics and not the price of turnips .You are suggesting that we should carry on arguing amongst our selves while spewing out hatred .Let me disagree , and again I suggest you read further into the various posts by a number of contributors and you see that so much has been achieved in building "forum bridges " of mutual understanding and respect for each others views. When a newcomer comes on the forum and immediately puts every one down by not suggesting but by dictating their views as the correct ones , without bothering to at least to read a reasonable amount of posts from existing contributors , before coming to conclusions. When you say carry on fueling your hate , you are really putting your self , just as Despo , does , above every one else , and that you and only you know best.
Piratis is not a hateful person and neither are his views objectionable , on the contrary the man is a patriot and one that believes in the equality of man under international and national law.
I have , right from the time I joined , criticised nationalistic views , minority / majority issues , propaganda , preposterous statements on the legality of the "TRNC" as well as the RoC , and have always proudly maintained what I have always believed that Cyprus belongs to the Cypriots , that the perceived "motherlands " are anathema to our cause , that the Annan plan had it been implemented following a "successful " result would have, in a short period of time , resulted in renewed inter communal strife with disastrous results and more bloodshed.
During my time on this forum , I have made friends with many many Cypriots , and where , because of my age , I'm 60 , sounded a little patronising , I apologised. I consider our island to be the property of Cypriots and I consider that all Cypriots should be free to settle in any part of the island without any restrictions what so ever. Such rights were not given under the Anna plan. Many G/Cs , on the winning side , the side that would benefit mostly by recovering their properties immediately , were naturally disappointed that the referendum resulted in defeat. But a solution is not just about the property issue but the long term securities required in order to bring about stability and justice as well as prosperity to our people and to the future of our children , and our grandchildren. All Cypriots want a solution , not just the ones who voted Yes.
Finaly I hope you stay on the forum and carry on contributing .
