Any Cypriot uses paypal?

Postby Creatures » Wed Jun 28, 2006 9:59 pm

Hey all

This post is refered mostly to cypriots.
Is there anyone out there who use paypal to receive and sent money on the net?
Paypal dosnt support cypriots to receive money on their account. Only sent.
And I was wondering if there is someone out there who found a "technique" to receive money too?
Maybe registering his country as Greece or UK...

You can receive money in a Cypriot account. You just cannot withdraw it to your bank. You must use it for purchases.

It’s only quite recently that PayPal has actually had Cyprus listed as a country!

You can register you country as Greece. However, they might detect this and deactivate your account, asking for verification that you are actually in Greece, such as a utility bill or a copy of your passport.

Get the purchaser to pay with postal orders. They don't cost anything to convert at the post office and you get your cash straight away. With cheques, you wait at least 10 days for it to clear and then you lose with bank charges.

As cyprusgrump says, we have only just been added to Paypal. Give it time and we will soon be able to accept cash in.

I firstly thought of entering my country as Britain and the address of some friends there.
My passport is British and my nationality too.
I however had not born or lived for a long time at Britain.

But the master card I use is from Trapeza Kypru so I though "What if they trace the card and see where it is from?"

Do you think I can do that?

They probably will trace it from the card. However, they might accept it since you have a British passport. I cannot say for sure. Please also note that, if Paypal freezes your account, you will not be able to withdraw the remaining credit from your Paypal account.
