does anyone here use webcam to speak to family and friends back home?

After looking through sites on what internet package to get we have decided to use the following companies

ICHOICE.
ICHOICE-1000 phone line rental
NETRUNNER FAST 1mb (from cyta)

This will cost us approx £27.00 per month as far as we can see.

There are so many conflicting stories on different internet packages.
and alot of people have said that CYTA are really bad, especially with customer service if you encounter anyproblems

We will need webcam and good fast internet access for my Husbands work in the UK as well as to speak to everyone back home.

any suggestions from people already using internet to contact home using a webcam.

its soooo confusing!!!

I use the I-choice 1000 service with netrunner and either skype, paltalk, msn messanger or yahoo messanger to stay in touch with friends and family back int he UK over the webcam.

The video and sound quality is excellent and of course FREE. I havn't used my mobile or land line to make calls since.
Last month i watched my friends wedding live from Canada, they set up a chat room in Paltalk and all guests wanting to participate in the wedding could log on and watch....technology is amazing

Well yes it can be especially if you come from the UK where the differentation between ADSL access and Internet access has never been brought to the cutomer. In most European countries Internet Providers and ADSL Providers (aka Land Line Providers) have cooperated so as to give one product to the end user at home.

In Cyprus (and in the past in Greece) the end product is the same but the way you get it is different. If you want ADSL broadband Internet access you must buy the i-choice product from CYTA which should be available to you unless you leave in a rural area. After you buy it and a technician configures and installs a line at your house you will then be able to buy ADSL internet access from whoever of the availble ISPs (OTEnet, SpiderNet, Netway, Wavespeed, CYTA and many others). Is like CYTA gives you the tap and pipes but you can choose what kind of water comes out of it  .

Only recently a new player has come into the scene, PrimeTel, that has its own optical fibre network and can terminate an ADSL line to your house independently from CYTA (no i-choice) including internet and landline. However the areas that this service is available is still limited but it is deffinetly worth to have a look.

Checked out primetel, it looks good, its great cause its 1 company for internet, phone and TV!!!

Its also good to know someone else is happily using the package (ICHOICE 1000 AND NETRUNNER FAST) we may use to contact family at home, at least we know it works!!

Cheers guys, thats one more thing sorted out!!! xx
