Hey, I beleive that unfortunately both sides took hostages...

.."In one incident, Turkish cypriots seized hundreds of Greek Cypriots in Ktima in the west, allegedly in retaliaition for the shooting of a Turkish Cypriot and because of the missing hostages. The Greek Cypriots responded by taking hostage hudreds of Turkish Cypriots in Ktima and Lapithou. Fourteen Turkish Cypriots and 11 greeks were killed in a struggle for control of Ktima before British Troops arranged a ceasfire and patrolled the line between the two forces"

From what i've read, I beleive that alot of the intercommunal fighting occured because of revenge attacks...'You do this to me, i'll do it to you etc....Which is quite sad really, although Cyprus was so politically unstable at the time, so mistrust was rife between the two communities (not all thankfully!! ;)), and it continued to be fueled by people who did not want what was best for Cyprus, unfortunately....:(

Peace!! :)

All these could have been happening at different times. I believe, the start of the crises was when the two men were shot dead, and almost the next day, we were taken hostages in Kücük Kaymakli. For some reason, we were targeted right away.

It's a piece of Cyprus history from a kids point of view, as how life was before and after when the first bullets started to fly. Thanks for reading it.

Oh I see, i'm not too sure when the intercommunal fighting started...... I don't think many people are to be honest with you...;) However I suppose I wanted to show that both sides were affected......

Peace!! :) And again thank you for sharing your experiences! It's nice to hear about the intercommunal fighting from someone that actually lived through it, instead of reading it in a book...:)

the truth is that yes many atrocities were caused by the turks 30 years ago but what about all the atrocities that are taking place here and not between the greek cypriots and other greek cypriots that we wish to turn a blind eye to.
they are all a bunch of greedy and ruthless people
who gain on the blood of their own people
