Hey, Miltiades,I completely agree, I mean even whithin "greece" there are different dialects of the greek language depending of the region or Island that you come from, Greeks who are from Greece are not all the same, to have a seperate "country" is a brand new idea, that has caused many problems, i mean there has never been only ethnic greeks in Greece, or ethnic Italians in Italy...there's a mish mash of people in each country that make them unique...It's slightly confusing what i'm trying to say, I don't think that even I understand....hehe...My homeland is Cyprus, but I relate to all ethnic greeks, not just in Greece but in Egypt, Turkey, southern Italy...all over the world in fact....But at the same time I also relate to The TC's. We need to embrace our Greekness and Turkishness, not shy away, but at the same time we need to celebrate the many similarities...infact there are so many things that the Cypriots do, that can not be found in either Greece or Turkey...The music and dancing is the same, the language is very similar, the way we live and are...People always comment on how, caring and kind the Cypriots are, the CYPRIOTS, both Turkish, Greek, Maronite...etc..
I hope people can understand what I've said, it's very confusing I know...LOL
Thank you Mitiliades for your compliment, I really appreciatte that, and I agree with many of your posts, it seems you have a well balances view on the Cyprus issue...Sorry that I misunderstood your post, and thank you for explaining your feelings to me!!
Peace!!!!:)
PS, where do you live in Engalnd? I to am an Anglo/Greek Cypriot (wow, so many identities...hehe) something I am very proud of! I live In Birmingham, where there's quite a large Cypriot, esp Greek Cypriot community, not as big as London though..
