RoC a "Trojan Horse" for EU against Turkey..

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Hey, Miltiades,I completely agree, I mean even whithin "greece" there are different dialects of the greek language depending of the region or Island that you come from, Greeks who are from Greece are not all the same, to have a seperate "country" is a brand new idea, that has caused many problems, i mean there has never been only ethnic greeks in Greece, or ethnic Italians in Italy...there's a mish mash of people in each country that make them unique...It's slightly confusing what i'm trying to say, I don't think that even I understand....hehe...My homeland is Cyprus, but I relate to all ethnic greeks, not just in Greece but in Egypt, Turkey, southern Italy...all over the world in fact....But at the same time I also relate to The TC's. We need to embrace our Greekness and Turkishness, not shy away, but at the same time we need to celebrate the many similarities...infact there are so many things that the Cypriots do, that can not be found in either Greece or Turkey...The music and dancing is the same, the language is very similar, the way we live and are...People always comment on how, caring and kind the Cypriots are, the CYPRIOTS, both Turkish, Greek, Maronite...etc..

I hope people can understand what I've said, it's very confusing I know...LOL

Thank you Mitiliades for your compliment, I really appreciatte that, and I agree with many of your posts, it seems you have a well balances view on the Cyprus issue...Sorry that I misunderstood your post, and thank you for explaining your feelings to me!!

Peace!!!!:)

PS, where do you live in Engalnd? I to am an Anglo/Greek Cypriot (wow, so many identities...hehe) something I am very proud of! I live In Birmingham, where there's quite a large Cypriot, esp Greek Cypriot community, not as big as London though..:)

Hi Natty , I have lived all my life in South London Streatham and Norbury, because of my business , I sell Catering Equipment and associated lines , I interact on a daily basis with people from all over the world and you know something , my favourite people are our Cypriot compatriots the Turkish Cypriots. Over the years I have met and socialised with many Cypriots Greek and Turkish , and can honestly say, hand on my heart , I love both the Greek and Turkish Cypriots. There are so many similarities , in fact we are the same leave or take religion , ethnicity etc. I brought up my two children instilling in them the CYPRIOT identity as well as , of course their mother's Englishness , and cant regret doing so. I honestly believe 1000000000% that the Turkish kids that I grew up with , played games , had childish skirmishes ,as we all do as children , would no way have any hatred for me because I'm Greek Cypriot. If we extend the hand of friendship to our brothers and sisters who share our Island they will respond .
Ps If by any chance your family are in the Catering trade please check out our site> www.devonscatering.co.uk

Hey Miltiades, I to have grown up in England, but because the Turkish Cypriot community in Birmingham is not that big, I have been unable to "mix" with our fellow compatriots as much as you (unfortunately), however there is a familly near where we live who are Turkish Cypriot, they own the local fish and chip shop (how can they not be Cypriot?? lol), and we've been going there since I was young. Both our familly's get on very well, and my Dad always leaves the shop with a big grin on his face after talking with the familly, (esp the father). They always speak about Cyprus, when their going to go, how much they love it.....I actually went to school with the daughter (who's soooo.. lovely), we sat next to each other in maths and it was great when i realised just how MUCH we have in common, we are so similar!! When I read some of the posts I really can't beleive how much, mistrust and to a certain degree, hatred there is (although that may be a strong word....) because I have never experienced any of this whithin both communities, the greek cypriot and the turkish cypriot community... i have never been told to hate the TC's, never, I've always been told to respect them..The only mistrust I have felt whithin the GC community is toward the presence of the Turkish army on the Island, and even that is not hatred, well in many cases...Trust needs to be built up between the two communities, I beleive that integration should happen slowly at first so that people can get used to living with each other once more, and begin to build that trust again, then we can live once again in a united country, something that the GC's and I'm sure TC's want so badly!! We need to stop allowing people to manipulate our Beautiful Island to suit their own purposes, by proving that TC's and GC's can live together quite happily, just like they have for years, and just like they are doing now in the mixed village of Pyla in the south...We need to stop giving them what they want....they desperataly want to make to make the Cyprus problem about Greeks Versus Turks, which is simply not true!!

Peace!!:)

PS, unfortunataly Miltiades my familly isn't in the catering trade, although I do have familly who I beleive are so i'll pass on the web address to them......:)

Lol, very true!! There was a girl once who was annoyed at the fact that she had to work in the fish and chip shop that particular night, after a while she turned round and asked whether i'd be working in our familly fish and chip shop that night also, when I told her that my Familly didn't actually own one she was shocked! :) Although both my Grandads owend Fish and Chip shops at some point, although my Mums Dad actually had a Cafe "Zorba's Grill" untill he retired....My Uncle also had a Cafe, and my other Uncle had a Fish and Chip shop, although now he has the Cafe "THe famous Zorba Grill" from my grandad....

Wow we really do love the Catering trade!! :)

I'm not really advertising here, honestly , but the Cypriots in the UK have some of the largest Catering Equipment Companies , as well as , as the case is with us , manufacturers of a variety of Equipment.
We started our own range of selected catering equipment such as Fryers , Food Mixers etc. and have plans to export them to Cyprus in the near future.
A look at our site will give you an insight to what we do. www.devonscatering.co.uk.
The company is run by my self and my only son ( who thinks he is the boss - but there is plenty of life in the old dog yet )
