I don´t know much about this subject, hence the question... If the British are so bad, why are there so many cypriots living in England?

For brevity the history lesson will be presented in bullet form:

* British Occupy Cyprus
* British contribute nothing to the well being of its inhabitants
* Inhabitants are very poor and very hungry , due to aforementioned British Policy
* Greek Cypriots forced to emigrate to UK to find better life
* British leave Cyprus , but within few years encourage Turkey to invade and displace Greeks from one third of the country
* Greeks forced to leave Cyprus and more come to UK

Is that clear ?

May I suggest that in order to further impress with your English which incidentaly lacks coherence , you could use words like opprobrium rather than vitriol ad perhaps therapeutic instead of remedial , but even then you would still not change my mind that your views are reprehensible and are those generally expressed by irresponsible delinquents.

relatino , we did not like other countries , we liked Britain because we were treated with respect we were offered free schooling , free health service , help in buying a property and we found the English a very tolerant race that puts up with all the shit that some ungrateful people throw at it .

Thanks for your answer. That´s what I wanted to know mainly: if all cypriots felt the same about Britain.

al there are only a few people on here that keep having a pop at the english and most of them dont even live in cyprus.....you need not worry 99.9% of cypriots think we're ok...

I know what you are all saying, I love cyprus and everything to do with it, but I have read a few topics on the forum mostly concerning the same couple of people who for some reason have a chip on their shoulders. many thanks to you all................

The British Bases occupy land that worths billions, especially in Limassol that they cover a lot of the coast line.

The salaries that some people get are peanuts compared to the value of that land and financial benefits that development of that land could provide to Cyprus.

Those bases were given to the British as part of the "Treaty of warranty" were the UK guaranteed the independence and sovereignty of Cyprus.

Since they UK didn't do anything to honor that treaty, those bases should be returned to Cypriots who are the ones that own that land. (except if anybody in here still believes in colonialism).

It is not only salaries but the amount of investment through outourcing contracts and spending is signifiant. I dont know exact financial figures but I will be interested to do more research on this to see the contributions of the bases to the overall Cyprus Economy!
