We have in Cyprus a gesture that is so unique to Cyprus , the gesture indicates " FILOTIMO OR NTROPI " RESPECT OR SHAME .
Most Cypriots will have used this gesture at some time in their life , its when you gently glide the palm of your hand down your chin , this little expression highlights the uniqueness of our loving culture that if we were to remove , or even put aside the heavy constrains upon us that create division and conflict then indeed this island is the Paradise on earth. There are thousands upon thousands of Cypriots that live away from Cyprus , yet they retain the uniqueness of the Cypriot culture in so much of their daily activities. We are also a race of people that easily adapt and integrate with the society at large new immigrants that for instance arrive in the UK are carrying some much excess luggage in terms of their strict adherence to their brand of "culture " and religion that they stick out like a sore thump the Cypriots have generally mixed and adapted accordingly.
