BBC TO MAKE PRO OCCUPATION PROGRAMME

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby Julio » Fri Jun 02, 2006 11:30 am

Humm
Is there any problem for anybody if I buy in non occupied land and I check that is not a TC plot neither?
Anything else to take into consideration?

As far as doing the right thing by the people of Cyprus I dont think so. Just make sure you dont get screwed yourself.

There was some info on the programme to be made on the website of the PRO- OCCUPATION home buyers pressure group , this group is made up of those british people Who have bought or deal in STOLEN GREEK CYPRIOT LAND & PROPERTY and are trying to justify themselves.

Do not use the words british and people in the same sentance. Criminals, may be a better word, but I leave it up to you.
You mean justify themselves, such as rapists do? " She shouldnt have worn that short skirt, or more likely, he shouldnt have worn those Bermuda shorts.

It is a sad fact that we brits are as hated by many in cyprus as the turkish..

We are blamed as much for the events leading up to 1974 as mainland turkey...

On the other hand, some love us for the wealth we have brought to the island we love through tourism, business, etc etc...

It does really surprise me the level of Xenophobia I see from some in Cyprus.. I never saw it in the 15 years I visited before moving here, but then I hadnt been to Nicosia before..

Any brit that buys in the north on anything other than pre 1974 turkish deeds deserves any amount of hassle they get... They are speculating by buying cheaper than in the south, and when you speculate, occasionally you lose... Money or profit should not be born of misery!

All of the British in Cyprus are murderers theives and rapists! just as all the Cypriots in Britain during the 1950/60's were known to be pimps and prostitutes. And today's British Cypriots are all very wealthy from untaxed earnings social security scams and lucrative Fish and Chip dealing!

If all of the above is correct then I should be onto a winner with money coming in from both sides of my AngloCypriot family, sadly as this seems not to be the case I would be happy to pick up a tip or two from the Cypriots who know so much about the British and my fellow countrymen who can read the Cypriots like an open book.

The Cypriots and the British have more in common than that which divides them, both nationalities having more than their fair share of arseholes!

Do people in here generally agree that at least half the problem in Cyprus (and even the entire Balkans) is attributed to all these so called superpowers? Ive nothing against individuals in general. I just think certain outside nations have to much to be accountable for

I Think this has a lot to do with a new generation of 20-30 year olds who have grown up post invasion and now quiet rightly want thier voices to be heard and to have their say in a solution to the problem. Cyprus like any other country has grown up and the youth of today are not prepared to sit by and let the older generation dictate to them as happened in the past. And I think that maybe they feel that newcomers to the island are trying to influence policies.

Joining the EU has also led to an influx of 'foriegners' which didn't happen in the past (or at least not to the extent it is now) and perhaps these people are seen as a threat to their traditions and heritage.

On a personal note I've never experienced Xenophobia in Nicosia and I've lived there on and off for the past 20 years. But then i just go with the flow...... when in Rome.....

Cant disagree with that wogboy I think you've hit the nail on the head. And it does seem that individuals who are citizens of the superpower nations get it in the neck. When the vast majority are trying just to earn a legal living in the country of thier choice. I dont think that they should have to pay for governmental policies
