Primetel pricelist

Postby Sotos » Sun May 28, 2006 6:28 pm

Finally Primetell gave the pricelist for their home products. The triple play that includes 300Kb internet, telephony and cable TV is 25 pounds. To get it with 1mbit internet you have to pay 37 pounds and with 1.5Mbit 56 pounds. I think the 1.5 mbit is too expensive. So I will stay with i-choice and Mivision for now.

isnt anything above a 300kb line a rip off in cyprus though? if you're accessing sites hosted on the island then it'll be really fast, but the lines that run under the sea that connect cyprus to the rest of the world arent that good, or there arent enough of them or something, so you dont get good speeds when you try and connect to a server off-island, where most of the island is

thats just what i heard. i've got the cheapest internet because thats all i need, i dont need better speeds. i work in the dhekelia base and a few people there with i-choice have said they were on the 2mb connection then downgraded and still got the same speeds. theres a speed test on the i-choice page but its hosted on the island so you get the speeds you pay for.. but when you try a speed test on an english site you're getting terrible results. but as i say, i couldnt test it as i'm on the basic internet package anyway.

am i wrong? i'll start advising people who ask me to go for the faster packages if i am

That may be the case with CyTA, but I can assure you that the speeds that PrimeTel offer are fast, VERY fast. For more info, and to see what PrimeTel are all about, go to the Cyprus international fair and take a look for yourselves.

actually you're right, its just cyta. i remember looking at the primetel website a while ago when i saw it on the greek news. i asked one of the technicians i work with about it and they said they've laid new lines under the sea, and spent millions on setting up the network of lines round the island... but it wouldnt be in larnaca or dhekelia for a while. as soon as they do i'm sure most of the soldiers in dhekelia will sign up, we're always getting people in complaining about i-choice and asking for alternatives

I asked them about the 24Mbits and they said they have it but only for businesses and it is very expensive. They didn't even know how much exactly it costs!

I've just switched to Primetel after waiting 2+ months for CYTA to get me an ADSL connection,(they now tell me they can't tell me when they will have free ports in my area, Palouritissa Nicosia) Primetel have told me 25 days maximum.... And thats' because I'm keeping the same telephone number and and it takes that amount of time for CYTA to do the paperwork

I've gone for the 1.25mb connection which is costing CY£31 per month, and I get the first 3 months free because I took advantage of a special offer that ended on the 31st May. :D

My mobiles are with Areeba so now I'm CYTA free! 8) 8) 8)

Finding free ports in your area isn't a problem. Its a case of configuring and adding a new DSLAM in the cabinets by the echange. The 25 working days though is a pain in the arse. CyTA actually do take 25 days to process the paperwork and give PrimeTel the green light for installation.

I'm still waiting for the buggers to come to Larnaka so I can switch over from CyTA. I have seen the internet speed Cabbie, and believe me, it is QUICK QUICK QUICK.
