so as I'm talking about p2p too. As well as ftp, ssh, etc. I don't see a big point in having 1mbit in a browser - it'll never be fully used except watching streaming videos and downloading something through http. And PrimeTel, btw, separates http and non-http traffic, giving a full 1Mbit in the browser and capping everything else down to nothing. But what the hell - I don't need it there, I need it in my bittorrent and ftp, and they just can't give it.

This is my own choice to cap it down to 0.3Mbit, if i use it in full capacity and i know i can, i would loose 120ms pings with UK... Admin simply will throw me at lowest priority. Its a "FAIR USE" policy..whatever they call it.
It happened to me when i had NETWAY, after having a fight, they gave me my money back and simply told me to "F*ck off..." ...not literally tho...but close.

It's an "oversale and screw our users" policy, can't see anything "FAIR" here

Regarding downloading stuff thru HTTP... i can launch a massive URL list with all LINUX DVD destros and simply "hijack" 0.x% of their bandwidth. Will they refuse service? they simply cant... and if they do there is a consumer protection body where u can complain. Well... its a bit diofficult to explain when it cmes to Hitech... but worth a try

do you mean downloading them for long, to constantly eat away their bandwidth? Dunno, seems that they're mostly targeting HTTP users and it will be limited by 1mbit anyway.
But - it's damn hard to get anything meaningful from those bastards. They even block outgoing smtp connections (to prevent from spamming, yeah) so I had to find a friend of mine inside and asked them to open for me some mailservers those don't have smtp-over-ssl or whatever else not at port 25. And their support guy was plain dumb - asked me to check my settings in Outlook 3 or 5 times. Even my wife started to laugh like hell here while I was on the line with that talking monkey.
And the same friend confirmed to me that they can not guarantee to me non-http bandwidth and there's nothing he can do about it. Wish I'd stuck with Cyta and Wavespeed.

yeah, was there before, but moved to another apartment and decided to try PrimeTel. Bad idea. Thinking about getting back - but damn, that's a lot of hassle. And no connection for me = lost of money, freaking webdev job, so trying to push as much as I can my current line.
