I have the PrimeHome ADSL 2+ package for the last week and the internet speed and quality is unbelievable.... No comparison with CYTA.

I totally disagree with Sotos who said that PrimeTel is expensive.

PrimeHome ADSL 2+ package that includes the telephony line rental and 1 Mbps Internet access costs only 24.99 CYP while CYTA's similar package costs 34 CYP (CYTA's prices : line rental = 6.95, ichoice 1Mbps = 12 and Netrunner = 15 CYP )

Also have in mind that PrimeTel is offering 256kbps as upload speed while CYTA only 128Kbps.

About the 1.5Mbps you can not actually compare it with any CYTA's product since CYTA is simply not offering 1.5Mbps to home users.. CYTA offers 1.5Mbps only as a business package and the lowest price is 212 CYP (line rental =7 , ichoice business =160 , netrunnerusiness4IP= 45 CYP) while PrimeTel is selling the 1.5Mbps for home users 49.99 CYP ..

And the most important you don't get any bills from CYTA anymore ))
If you call to 22102210 they can tell you if they cover your area or not. That's what I did ...

miniCS I only said that the 1.5Mbit is expensive compared with what I was hoping for. The speed I can understand that it is faster but I think you exaggerate. With Otenet I constantly get downloads at 850Kbits+. The limit for 1Mbit connection is 1024Kbits. So how much faster can it really be? I really want to try Primetel but to do that I have to switch my telephone line and commit to them. Do they also require 1 year contract? I really hate to commit myself in this way especially with something that is not proven yet. Who knows how fast they will be when they will have a lot more clients sharing the bandwidth?

Hi all,

I'm keen to get PrimeTel too after hearing that i-Choice won't be available in my village (Phinnikaria, outside Limassol) until October 2007.

BUT i'm told they lease the lines from Cyta anyway... Meaning if you can't get i-choice, you can't get PrimeTel.. Can anyone confirm if this is true ?

Here's hoping as 56K (actually only 42Kbps) is driving me nuts....

They use some cyta facilities but I don't think availability of i-choise is a requirement. But for now Primetel covers less areas than i-choice so I am afraid Primetel will not be avialable in your area any time soon either :( Until you get ADSL you can check if you have 3G coverange in your area. With 3G you can get more than 300Kbits which is better than dial-up. You can also try onspeed (www.onspeed.com)

PrimeTel

Today they finally told me the truth that they use priority on their Internet Services. So if you download 10gb in one week (upon their judgment, no predetermined limits) they will decrease your priority and so bandwidth to minimum for the next week. Also they use a system of penalties if you have downloaded too quick too many GByte !!! They have less Bandwidth than the total required by its registered users.

I have downloaded 10gb the last few days and now my brother plays Counter Strike and has ping of 500ms+ because of this. And they Support told us that you get punished for downloading 10gb last few days. Thats their policies. They call it Penalty.

Here are my speed tests results the next day of downloading 10gb. (just speed test, I am at low priority now)

I have 750/256 Adsl2+ and i get :

I regret the time i install Primetel.
In my opinion is not good ISP for those who download.

FORTUNATELY I WILL MOVE TODAY TO PRIMETEL- NETWAY (1000/256) they made agreement !
I will infrom you about the results of NETWAY throught Primetel Lines and Modem.

Bunch of assholes... Penalties... read your agreement, make sure its stated there.
See your bandwidth needs, make sure you stay "low profile" lets say concurrent 30K downstream and 6-7 upstream.
With this bandwith u can get 1 movie over night or 2 episodes of whatever serials on US cable. Its enough for 1 evening to watch... why would u need to PUMP at full capacity and alerting ISP admins?

What is you fucking problem in telling people the truth (limits, penalties etc) about different ISPs. Then each individual can make his decision.

And watch your language.

damn - penalties. And I'm wondering what the hell non-HTTP is so crappy on PrimeTel.
Any details on Netway-Primetel offer? Running there at full speed.

I don't understand you - what's the point of paying for a 1Mbit subscription to stay below 30kb?
