It makes not one iota of difference what nationality these obsene murderers are. They should remain in prison for as long as the law will permit. It was a horrific and a cold blooded murder of a young person , and the fact the murderers are British should not come into consideration if and when a possible parole is onsidered.

Totally agree. Rape destroys a woman even if she is not murdered and as far as the victim goes, it doesnt matter what nationality her rapists are. So the point here, isnt to make a fuss about it only when the rapists are British. There are British, Cypriot, American and all kinds of nationalities' rapists. They all need to burn in hell. Unfortunately, they serve a couple of years and get out. What one needs to concentrate on, is to make it harder for them to be released and commit other crimes no matter where they come from.

lysi you sound extremely bias, and i think its a valid question as to why you pick that one incident when rapes are common here in cyprus, infact i have privy to a great many news items, and rape is actually very common here between husbands and wives, as many men do not grasp the concept that there wives are not owned and they dont have the right to sex if the the wife is not in the mood. Also there are many incidences of rape with drunk tourists and russians. i am not suggesting that this is only a cyprus phenomenon but it is common in a patriarchal society where women are either meat or mothers. And i grow tired of your constant small minded opinions.

What happened to the 2 Cypriot animals that TORTURED, RAPED, MURDERED and then dumped the bodies of their 2 victims on the Kostiatis Rubbish Tip the year before the murder of Louis Jensen.

Just for the record one of the victims was the Swedish wife of a Cypriot busnisman from Ayia Napa, and the mother of his 2 children, the other was a Ukrainian girl of 22, they both took about 10 hours of torture and rape before they died.

Oh, and has the Cypriot animal that raped and anally raped the young tourist with a stick on Ayia Thekla beach in 2003 been released yet? the last I heard the young girl will never be able to have children... I think the tough Cypriot judge gave the Cypriot ANIMAL 18 months for that.

Man jailed for rape of Latvian

A MAN from Frenaros was jailed for eight years yesterday for the kidnap and rape of a Latvian woman last August.

Michalis Philippou, 30, was sentenced by the Larnaca district court for the attack on the 40-year old woman.

The unnamed victim arrived in Cyprus in August 2005 to work. Twenty days later, on August 26, while she was walking on Protaras Avenue in Paralimni on her way home, Philippou, a married father of three small children, offered her a lift, but instead of taking her to her house, took her to an isolated spot despite her protests.

The court heard that he threatened to kill her before raping her and stealing £15 from her. He then threw her out of the car and left her there in the early hours of the morning

Reading the seven-page judgement, the chair of the court, Judge Antonis Liatsos, said the accused had committed grave offences and that under the circumstances the maximum sentence of life imprisonment for rape had been seriously considered as an option. But the court also considered the personal circumstances of the accused and the fact that he had a young family.

“Rape destroys the dignity of a woman and humiliates her,” Judge Liatsos said when he handed down the eight-year sentence. “The protection of this fundamental human rights depends on the Courts, and it is expressed through the strict sentences of a deterrent character that are imposed by the court.”
