Hi all,

My first post here...

Just arrived in Cyprus from Hong Kong (I'm a Brit, not chinese). Was hoping someone might be able to shed some light on how to get broadband access in our small village.

Was spoilt in HK with 6Mbps access. Right now on 44Kbps which is painful..

Any ideas on how I might be able to hassle Cyta to bring it to my vilage ?

Welcome to Cyprus subzerohk The best for home users you can get in Cyprus is 1Mbit. If that is not provided to your village then the only alternative is satellite internet which is very expensive Another possibility is to get wireless 3G internet with around 350Kb but I don't know if your village has 3G coverage.

You can get a two-way satellite connection anywhere in Cyprus.

The equipment is quite expensive but you can share it with neighbours using a wireless network.

Here in Pissouri we have a single satellite link which we are sharing across the whole village and offering up to 4M downloads (uncompressed data).

We have just bought a villa in Pine Bay. Pissouri so I was very interested to see that there is shared broadband access in the village, as we intend to keep a business going back in England while spending long periods in Pissouri.
I would be grateful for more information please.
