Why didn't Greece defend Cyprus in 1974?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Should Greece have gone to war with Turkey in 1974?

Thing is, the corruption of the young is still continued today. The Greek schools teaching the students reminds me of the way children were taught in Nazi Germany! A Greek friend of mine was told in her school that knowing Turkish people was a bad thing, and that they were dogs. In another school they were taught TC's oppressed the GC's pre '74 and in another they were taught that the TC's backstabbed the GC's!

I've noticed a trend that depending on which school they went to, the story is completely different. Everything will continue as it is unless people wake up to these issues.

You do make this crap up as you go along. This comes from a people that deny the genocide of a million Armenians, and the near genocide of thousands of Kurds. I think that you can be safely labeled Barbaric without risk of a successful litigation. Being murdered, or your village burned to the ground maybe, but not much chance at the Court of Human Rights.

Your pure ignorance is shinning through, you still dont know the difference between Turkish Cypriots and Turks.

Believe me its true. My own GREEK friends told me.

You can say what you like, but they wouldn't make something like that up.

And as for you Alexander, you are just the epitome of hate. People like you are part of the problem.

I'm not saying categorically that it is not true or that this has never been taught in a GC school by some misguided teacher. The problem lies in the way you portray Greek Cypriot schooling as if it is part of the curriculum to teach kids to hate Turks/TCs. You also do this without acknowledging that there might be a similar malaise in TC schooling with regards the Cyprus Problem.

We should start teaching kids about reconciliation and instill in them the Cypriot nationality , yes the Greeks will be Cypriot Greeks and the Turks will be Cypriot Turks but that should be the order. First Cypriots .
We should endeavour to establish a common ground , and the most fertile ground is "WE ARE CYPRIOTS."
Pashas gesture in removing the Turkish flag should be applauded and some one from the G/C should follow by replacing the Greek flag with a Cypriot one.How about it Simon ?

Sure, and I am glad to see that this is beginning to happen in Cyprus (even though it is only the minority). Pasha, I too applaud your gesture of good-will in changing your avatar and hope more wil do the same.

I really find it difficult to understand your mentality... what you are proposing is the basis of Fascism and Nationalism...

The best ground for establishing the common ground is not the enforcment of a newCypriot Nation idea through the training of a new generation of Cypriots, it is the teaching of respecting each other for who we are.

I see where you're coming from on this point, however I don't think that it would be heading in a fascist direction. I myself have chosen to remove my avatar through choice, not because I was forced.

The whole reason for the nationalism in the country is from each motherland in the first place, and by doing away with these ties it would no doubt ease tensions somewhat. I do believe we are heading in the direction of having respect for each other, but whilst these other "flag wavers" and "poisoners" exist there will always be issues. People need to take a step back, in order to take two forward.

Well I think maybe you need to check your sources.
