Greek-Cypriot / Turkish-Cypriot relations a racist issue

Feel free to talk about anything that you want.

Fair point cypezokyli, while you're at it, take a look at the cna.org.cy take on this story...Cyprus makes "great" progress on racism (the word "great" was nowhere in the report, I believe the word used was "considerable" and they don't mention the TC issue at all).

As I always say, make up your own mind, and watch out for the whitewashing. The media do us no favours by only presenting one side of the story. If you check out the entire report on the CoE's website, you get the full story on their report.

Correction: they mention the TC's in the context that the report notes that TC's living in government controlled areas now have passports and a better standard of living. No mention of the opportunities for dialogue that are being missed.

in short it is true , our racist and xenophobic tendencies are unfortunately rising in cyprus. more than one studies have shown that already

You are if nothing, but predictable. Do you always trot out this knee jerk rubbish? I think for a people that have been treated so badly by the British and Turks, we show remarkable lack of ill will. Stop being such a self loathing looser. Are you actually Greek or Greek Cypriot?

i am a cypriot.

but if you are following the gc media , there have been a number of studies proving our rasist tendencies (phileleftheros included) . the question is , do you follow the media ?

if you believe you are a greek , then self-critisism, is a virtue that you should posses. or... ?

last , if you read the report on turkey from the ECIR you would be jumping around, shouting "see what the turks are like" . what i am concerned is what happens in my country though , and as far i am concerned there are a lot more to be done. if you are satisfied , then i guess is a matter of choise.

A footnote to an appendix to a report on race issue is no basis for your assertions. Open your eyes and look around you and then you will see how worthless these accusations are. Maybe there should be condemnation of your friends in the Islamic Fascist state to the North and less bleating complaints about Cyprus

I live in an "islamic fascist state"?

News to me - does that mean I have to stop shaving and grow a beard? Yippee!

All these drinks they serve in the bars here must be alcohol-free then. I can drink all day now - double yippee!

Alexander - you'd better let the disco-going girls know. They might want to put a few more clothes on before our "islamic-fascist" police catch them without their burquas...actually, dont bother, I appreciate the nigh non-existent fashions prevalent nowadays...

its not a footnote , its not an appendix , and its not "a report" but a report from the council of europe. if you do not know what the council of europe is , you can ask.

take a neo-cypriot kid and ask him what he associates the word "phillipineza" with and perhaps you will understand.
one doesnt have to say "foreigners out" to be a racist.

as for the "islamist fascist state" let me kindly remind /inform you :
there is no state in the north where the EC can produce a report
the tcs are not religious. take a book and read , or go and meet some tcs , change your stereotypes. the only people in cyprus who still allow the priests express opinions on political /social problems (like third world countries) its us.

You are so blinded by your loathing of this country, is that you cannot stop spewing out this rubbish. It is impossible to have a rational debate with a person whose fascistic hatred of Cyprus, knows no bound. Your laughable assertion that some calls somebody a « phillipineza « is racist is just ludicrous. A Kurd, who has been decapitated by your friend Attila, might have a different view of what a racist then you!

Firstly, even if the TCs are religious, that does not make them any less civilised, same with GCs. Religion is an individual choice, so to say that TCs are not religious is too general. Some are, some are not. If they totally wasn't, then why do they have Mosques in the occupied areas and elsewhere in Cyprus.

Secondly, the Pope has political opinions. Does this mean that Italy, Spain etc with Catholic majorities are third world countries? The Archbishop of Cantebury in England sometimes expresses political opinions of problems etc, does this make England a third world country? Come on Cypezokyli. You seem to have a dislike for Christianity I have picked up in some of your other posts - only you know why. All I say is that religion is not the problem, but it is people who distort it that is the problem, and Islam has the biggest problem with regard to this. Nowhere does Christianity ever accept violence, so therefore it in itself can never be blamed for violence.
