Do you know this song? Istanbul not Constantinople

Feel free to talk about anything that you want.

I don't reject it and actually I declared my city of birth as Constantinople

Where and when you did that?

Maybe RoC officials just wrote the name as is officially recognized by Turkey. As I told you they shouldn't have any problem with either.

This was a big 80s song, by They Might Be Giants (I think). I thought it was called "Putting on the Ritz," but maybe I'm wrong.

What's in a name? that which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet

That's not one of mine, by the way, but I do go only with the general principal of the statement. Mind you, I have no idea what Istanbul smells like.

Oho, my friend! You will learn that no matter how banal, frivolous or inconsequential your post might appear to be...

I know! Let's have a competition! Let's see who can post the most seemingly trivial of topics and still manage to stir up the maggots! This is a brilliant idea, I'm rather pleased with myself. :D

Now to think of something as innocuous as possible...

I just wanted to open a topic about a song but someone took this topic to a different side. I know I am guilty too.

So what you suggest is that this topic was about music and that somebody just decided to sing to us a song from 80s? Come on kalahari, the message of this topic was deeper than than, why is it so hard to admit it?

If when the ex-pats have some meetings somebody goes and sings to them anti-colonial EOKA songs (translated in English so they would understand the words) do you think those people would think "hey, this song is very nice, where can we buy the CD?"

I swear on my honor I have opened this topic just for music. I listen many composers and musicians who are "haters". Just music is important for me. If you say those songs are really good I can even listen to them. Just send me their MP3s.
