Postby GreekCypriotGurl_UK » Sat May 06, 2006 6:09 pm

i just read that the population is north cyprus is rising http://www.cyprus-mail.com/news/

Turkey should get out of Cyprus and take the Turkish settlers who appear to be breeeding like rats with them or else face isolation

Since the Cyprus Mail (as usual) says nothing from what our site has to say about this census, here is the relevant article from CNA.

Cypriot Undersecretary to the President Christodoulos Pashiardis described here Friday the result of the census carried out Sunday in the Turkish-occupied areas of Cyprus as plasmatic and unreliable, noting that the census is aiming to legitimize the illegal settlers ``undermining in this way efforts for a mutually accepted settlement of the Cyprus question.``

In a statement issued after the announcement of the preliminary results of the census, Pashiardis said the census was carried out with a view to prepossess any future discussion of the issue by the Technical Committees between the two communities.

A joint statement issued after a meeting in Paris on February 28, 2006 between UNSG Kofi Annan and the Cypriot President Tassos Papadopoulos said that “the leaders of both communities (in Cyprus) have agreed that bicommunal discussions on a series of issues, agreement on which is needed for the benefit of all Cypriots, will be undertaken at the technical level”.

The preliminary results of the census, according to the so-called prime minister of the occupied regime Ferdi Sabit Soyer, presented a population of 264,172 people, recording a 31% increase of the population in the occupied areas, compared to result of the census carried out ten years ago.

ok , how do the committees which we didnot agree with talat to have , have anything to do with the cencus ?!!!

the results of the cencus are not out yet.
when they are out we can critisize them.

without a cencus we have a problem , with a cencus we have a problem. what exactly is it that we want ?
we all know that we can truck down the settlers through the documents the RoC has. why does it bother us when the north has a cencus ?
how do we know that the results are plasmatic and unreliable , when we havent even saw them ?
besides they did say , that any inspector was welcomed.
....

you have made a cencus and as a concequence it is your fault that two months after tpap met with talat the committees are not there yet.
one of the greatest logic i ve ever seen !!

The fact that Cypriot Undersecretary to the President Christodoulos Pashiardis can criticize the results of the census before they are even out tells volumes about his "reliabilitiy"

one of the advandages of having tc friends is that in general you can get more reliable info. so if i may steel this info from a friend and share it with you in order to prove once again the cheap goverment propaganda or the absence of translators in the south :

The number 264,172 as revealed by Soyer is de-facto population of the North. In other words, it is the count of every person who happened to be on the island during the census. It includes tourists, people with work permits, students etc. (but not the Turkish Army). Soyer also revealed some of these numbers and he said:

Baþbakan Soyer, bir baþka soruya karþýlýk, KKTC'de yaþayan turist, çalýþan, öðrenim gören herkesin fiili nüfus sayýsýna dahil olduðunu belirterek, çalýþma izniyle ülkede bulunan 47 bin 601 kiþi; 26 bin 551'i Türkiyeli, 2 bin 860'ý yabancý uyruklu toplam 29 bin kadar öðrencinin de bu rakam içerisinde olduðunu açýkladý.

Which states that 47,601 people with work permits and (around) 29,000 students are included in this count (these are numbers that are known by issuing of the relevant permits). This means that at least 77,000 non T R N C citizen, temporary residents are involved in this number. There is also the number of tourists etc. that has to be subtracted from this number to find out the number of the T R N C citizens (including T R N C citizen settlers).

It is not the population of the Turkish Cypriot community that grew 31%! This is not what the article says (KIBRIS). It is the de-facto population of North that grew 31% from de-facto population of the 1996 census. This is a expected result when the building industry grew so radically recently.

it always makes more sense if we wait for a while to listen to the "raw facts".
but usually by the time the "raw facts" are out the media will have constracted a new reality for us and the good of cyprus

Therefore according to this census the settlers might in fact be 100.000 or 150.000 since they choose not to count settlers and TCs separately. The reason they are trying to hide the number of settlers is obvious.

Maybe Piratis, I am not saying you are wrong. But I believe everyone should wait for the "official" results to come out before they comment so that they dont look like idiots.
