CENSUS REVEALS SOARING POPULATION IN THE NORTH

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby Piratis » Tue May 09, 2006 10:56 pm

stuballstu, what does it matter what figures they will release? I mean come on, here we are talking about Turkey. When in ECHR all other judges were voting in favor of our people, there was this one Turkish judge that was always against. When not even judges are allowed to have an independent opinion by the Turkish military regime what makes you believe that this census will be objective?

Why are you not happy with them? What have they done to you? Most of them are working people trying to support their families. I'm not saying that there is no issue of demographics, however we should not forget the they are human beings. They are not even aware of the situation in Cyprus. They definitely are not ruining Cyprus.

Hi sadik,

I couldn't agree more with your sentiments. These people are indeed human beings too and it is often easy to forget this from this (the GC) side of the Green Line. My belief is that the vast majority of them should be allowed to stay.

I cannot say I blame the settlers. Someone brought them and dumped them here. They didnt wake up one day and decided to come here for a walk. We cannot keep blaming people for what their governments do.

Well then somebody should go and dump them back. The sooner the better!

Alexander

How do you know what the results are of the census before they have been released?

The issue of Turkish settlers will be taken care of with any settlement. However what if the Cyprus problem and Turkey's EU admission go hand in hand? You can not ask, what would be, fellow European Citizens to leave another part of the EU only based on the fact they are Turkish.

The solution is simple; every single Turkish alien must go back, even those born in Cyprus. Anything else is unacceptable. Why should Cyprus or the EU have to negotiate at the end of the Turkish gun? The problem with Turkish EU accession is more than just Cyprus. Apart from UK and US politicians with a vested interest, no one in Europe from the Pope down wants Turkey in the EU.

I wonder if this mentality is common to all Europeans. But then again Cyprus and GC's are not really Europeans, they just carry that title, a symbolic thing I guess.
