My dear friend Bananiot , I have the utmost respect for Mr Klerides who I remember clearly in that dreadful summer of 1974 holding the fort proudly while everything around him was collapsing . I respect the views of all those Cypriots who voted Yes to the Annan plan. I was against it and still am , believing that the future of Cyprus would have been jeopardised in order to achieve a solution at any cost. It reminds me of a spinster that with the years passing her by , she embarks on a marriage of convenience if only to be united with a man in holy matrimony. Mr Clerides was not wrong , the 34% ? -not sure of the exact number - who voted Yes were not wrong either but all were defeated in a democratic referendum . Cyprus will achieve a far greater solution than many think . Europe entry has cemented the direction of a future just solution. Our Turkish compatriots understand that their future lies with the rest of Cypriots away from the imaginary "motherland " and all the problems that it can bestow upon them , settlers , culture shocks unknown to TC so far , and assimilation with people that do not share their culture , any more that we do with the Georgia Greeks ? Religion is the opium of the people ??? Well we have the opium in Cyprus and we have the religions but have we got what it takes to make peace and find a just solution ? I think we have !

Rejecting a plan without proposing an alternative plan on the table to move things forward it is not the right way to go.

cypezokyli , we work with our Cypriot compatriots to establish solid trust and respect for each other and in time we shall , if we then reciprocate ,as Im sure they will , they will then inform their invited guests , the 40000 Turkish troops , that they have overstayed their welcome and its time they went home .Only our Cypriot compatriots can understand our pain , our loss , our anguish because they suffered as much.
Let the voices of reason , reconciliation , justice for all prevail and bring peace with honour to our beloved Cyprus.

The Cypriots Greek and Turkish are the victims.
The solution will only result from a joint effort to find a solution that both can respect.
There will never be a solution that will satisfy everybody that has a say in the Cyprus problem.

yes miltiades , but could you tell me the number of negotiation rounds that we had since 2004 ?
before , denktash was a very good excuse. now it is us who are putting the excuses.

if you expect the tcs to revolt against the turkish army , i am sorry to dissapoint you but that will not happen. a momentum that was there is gone , and neither tpap , nor talat , nor akel are doing anything towards chaning that climate...on the contrary.

greekgodess : ofcource you are right , a solution will be achieved by a joined effort. so , what are we waiting for ?

The two sides needs to come and discuss all their issues without any foreign influence. Litening to the other side is an iomportant element of the conflict and a first step towards resolution. When anyone is poor he/she takes actions to find a job. When anyone is ill he/she goes to the hospistal When you have a problem and you do nothing towards solving the problem this sounds as an irrational behaviour to me !

Andri, can you enlighten us as to why Klerides and Makrides are no good? I should have included in the list Hadjidemetriou of EDEK and Kazamias, Christou, Toumazoz, Hadjigeporgiou and Mavrou of AKEL. All these are very serious and respected politicians and if anyone has something against them I would like to know the hard evidence.
